Game wardens from the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and other boating safety experts are reminding boaters about life jackets, safe boating classes and the danger of invasive species during National Safe Boating Week May 21-27, leading into Memorial Day weekend—the traditional kickoff to boating season in Northern Nevada.

Highway 50 over Echo Summit tentatively set to re-open today

Weather and conditions permitting, U.S. Highway 50 over Echo Summit, the main artery into South Lake Tahoe and onto Carson City is tentatively set to re-open early this afternoon, according to Caltrans. The road was closed May 11 to remove and replace a damaged rock wall barrier.

Healthy Communities Coalition: Collaboration Leads to Results

The Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey hosts special speakers during public meetings held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 9am at the Silver Springs Community Center at 2945 Ft. Churchill Road. V&T Railroad ushers in spring season with special events

After a sold-out season in 2009, the V&T has expanded operations to Friday through Sunday rides, now through Oct. 31.

Heavenly has announced its plan for the week of April 19 – 25. In mid-March, Heavenly announced the extension of the 2009-10 season by one week in response to conditions and a plentiful snowpack.
