Special Olympics Nevada extends 'Flame of Hope' virtual run and fundraiser

Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) is extending the time of its first-ever “Flame of Hope” virtual run and fundraiser.

From now until September 30, SONV is asking the community to support its athletes and programs by registering to walk, run, bike, or swim a 10k, 5k, or the distance of a JR. run.

The 2020 Jazz & Beyond Music and Art Festival will include the second annual Carson City Open Studios Tour with multiple locations. Silver State Health Insurance Exchange Announces Extended Open Enrollment Period for Plan Year 2021

The Virtual Meals on Wheels fundraiser hosted by Carson City Kiwanis proved to be a big success.

The event raised $3,855.44, including a $1,000 anonymous donation and a donation from the club itself of $1,000 donation.

The Brewery Arts Center has teamed up with The Change Companies and Miles Construction to provide live music directly to the citizens of Carson City during this time of sheltering in place.

Carson City Library reopening Monday with reduced hours

On Monday the Carson City Library is reopening to the public with the hours of 1-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Curbside pick-up service will continue to be available 10 a.m.-noon, Monday through Friday.

“We’re thrilled to be able to welcome the community back to the library,” said Tod Colegrove, director of the Carson City Library. “Because of the governor’s directive and to ensure everyone stays as safe as possible, we’ve had to limit hours and staffing. We’ll also still have curbside pick-up for those who might be hesitant to come into the public facility.”

Carson City Kiwanis supports local causes serving children, youth, elderly and disabled. Focused on this mission, the club hosts an annual Bingo and Pasta Feed to support the Carson City Senior Citizen’s Center Meals on Wheels program.
