An Instagram message confirms: Cycling legend Lance Armstrong is in Carson City for the Carson City Off-Road Epic Rides event.

For the third consecutive year, multi-talented actor and musician Justin Timberlake will join superstar athletes and entertainers at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe this summer. The highly-decorated performer is an avid golfer who plays to a 4-handicap and is renowned in the sport for his philanthropic endeavors.

As the 2017 school session ends and summer begins, law enforcement agencies statewide are Joining Forces to urge motorists to be pedestrian aware and share the streets responsibly. In an effort to stop pedestrian fatalities, agencies aligned with Joining Forces will focus on enforcing pedestrian safety guidelines now through the remainder of this week.

Trash Mobs are a grassroots community effort coordinated by Muscle Powered volunteers to keep the walkways and bike paths around Carson City free of littler. The one-hour events take place on the third Saturday of each month at various locations around town.

Pets of the Homeless, a Carson City-based, national organization has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its emergency veterinary care program to service and therapy animals that belong to the homeless.

Teachers and students at Carson High School are teaming up to accomplish some amazing community projects throughout Carson City and beyond. One of Carson High School’s own counselors, Nicki Hendee, along with CHS teacher Angila Golik and her honors government class, and a host of local businesses offering support, are collecting anything and everything to do with, of all things, diapers.

With some help from Mother Nature, bulls and broncs kicked up plenty of dust Saturday night at Fuji Park Fairgrounds in Carson City, putting a little bit of Nevada on an exclamation point at the Wild West Rodeo.

Three days of thrill-seeking, mountain biking adventure and plenty of capital city hospitality and entertainment will kick off the inaugural Carson City Off-Road Epic Ride series beginning Friday and lasting through the weekend.

The Nevada Division of Tourism’s annual “Discover Your Nevada” program has officially kicked off with a new incentive for Nevadans to explore their state, Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison announced earlier this month. That incentive is a Field Trip Fund benefitting Silver State students.

A new campaign is encouraging residents to see Carson City in a new way — then share it with the rest of the community.

“Ride Carson City is more than just a campaign,” said Kyle Horvath, social media manager for the Carson City Visitors Bureau. “It embodies the Carson City lifestyle. It celebrates a community that is active at all ages.”

The Nevada Highway Patrol will be looking for motorists and occupants who are not buckled up while traveling. During this time, the Highway Patrol will be Joining Forces looking for drivers and other occupants in vehicles who are not wearing their seatbelts and/or children who are not properly in car or booster seat(s).

Science, in the form of satellite data, is showing us that the country’s driest state is much greener than normal thanks to El Nino-fueled storms that dumped rain and snow across the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin all winter.

Volunteers, who are supplied with work gloves and trash bags by Muscle Powered staff, remove litter from areas often used by citizens of Carson City for recreational purposes such as walking, jogging, or cycling.

The 3rd Annual Nevada Rural Communities Social Media In Tourism Symposium will be on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, 2016.

The Symposium is a series of educational talks that dive in deeper than any introductory classes. Speakers will get specific with their topic so you get the answers you are looking for.

As snow continues to fall in the Sierra, the Business Association Chamber Collaborative, a sub-committee of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association is proud to announce the creation of the “Touch Lake Tahoe Secrets” interactive online map. Amgen Tour of California, presented by AEG, announced Thursday that professional cyclists return to Lake Tahoe for the men’s Stage 5 finish, as well as the women’s Stage 1 start on Thursday, May 19, 2016. The men will take off in Lodi, Calif. and finish at Heavenly Mountain Resort’s California Base Lodge in South Lake Tahoe. The women will also start/finish at Heavenly Mountain Resort on May 19.
