The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "H2O 2020", with work by eight Great Basin artists at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery: Cyndy Brenneman, Vanessa Martinez, Nolan Preece, Nancy Raven, Craig Sheppard, Dylan Silver, Cathryne Trachok, and Candida Webb. The exhibition will be in the gallery through Sept. 24, 2020.

Carson City’s Jazz & Beyond 2020 Music and Art Festival Update

The Jazz & Beyond festival committee is rescheduling many of the events originally planned for August 2020 because of the recent rise in coronavirus cases. However, the committee plans to go ahead with the second annual Open Studios Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23. Admission is free.

Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum in Carson City to reopen Monday

CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum will reopen to the public on Monday, July 20, thanks to a generous donation from the family of a former Stewart Indian School principal. Opened in January and closed to the public in March because of the current health crisis, the Cultural Center faced severe budget cuts.

Coin Press No. 1, which stamped coins at the Carson City Mint from 1870 to 1893, will operate from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 4 at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. This will be the first time the museum has operated Coin Press No. 1 since it closed temporarily in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carson City Jazz and Beyond 2020 poster, t-shirt art winners announced

The Jazz and Beyond festival committee announces that the winner of the 2020 poster and program cover art contest is Karen Kreyeski, for her entry, “After Midnight Jam.” The winner of the T-shirt design is Evan Tynan, for “2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival Logo.” These were selected from ten entries to highlight the 17th annual Carson City music and art festival.

Katherine Case and her linoleum-cut prints, that celebrate the animals and landscapes that celebrate the Sierra Nevada.

As part of the ongoing Nevada Humanities Exhibition Series, a new exhibition, Colors of the West: Youth Art from the 2020 National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, opened online on June 4, 2020 at nevadahumanities.org and will be on display as a virtual gallery indefinitely.

The Nevada Artists Association Gallery will be closed during the COVID-19 outbreak. Unfortunately, the outbreak occurred during our winter show and artists who would normally have had visitors coming into the gallery to look at their work was a concern of the NAA Board.
