Since 1938, the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City has been an annual coming together to celebrate Nevada’s heritage and the founding of this great state on October 31, 1864.

Museum Curator of Education Mina Stafford will deliver the program on this uniquely Mexican holiday and how it has evolved over time. Also at the event, the museum will announce plans for this year’s Dia de Los Muertos celebration.

Coach 17 is the rail car that was present at Promontory Summit, Utah, in 1869, when the nation’s first transcontinental railroad was completed. It is part of the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s collection.

It will be shown in the parking lot of the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street, in Carson City. Admission is free. Show time is available when calling for reservations, which are required for each vehicle and can be made by calling 775-883-4154.

The festival was founded in 2004. This is the first year in which gathering of large crowds at musical events has been restricted due to health concerns.
