The Capital City Arts Initiative’s [CCAI] exhibition, For Detail View, by artist Jeff Hantman continues at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery through May 25. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. Carson City Fire Department, the Nevada Highway Patrol and sheriff's deputies were called Monday afternoon to a single vehicle rollover on the I-580 freeway, in the southbound lane south of Lakeview.

The occupant of the Toyota Tundra, which was hauling a trailer filled with thousands of pieces of white paper, was reportedly out of the vehicle and limping, according to dispatch. The crash was reported at 1:03 p.m.

Hundreds of pieces of paper were blowing across the freeway, according to sheriff's deputies on scene.

A 21-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Wednesday on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly brandishing a gun during a road rage incident on the I-580 freeway, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding political candidates and their supporters that no political signs are allowed on state road right of way.

Carson City emergency crews were called at 9:50 p.m. Thursday night to a crash involving an overturned semi-truck at the northbound Fairview on-ramp of I-580.

Trash Mobs are a grass-roots community effort to keep the walkways and bike paths around Carson City free of littler. For just one hour on the third Saturday of each month, Muscle Powered holds the events at various locations around town. Volunteers, who are supplied with work gloves and trash bags by Muscle Powered staff, remove litter from areas often used by citizens of Carson City for recreational purposes such as walking, jogging, or cycling.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of April 4-10, 2016. Work continues on the Downtown Corridor improvement project on Carson Street. For this week, traffic on North Carson Street will be one lane in each direction between William and 5th Street on the north bound side of the street.

Construction of the downtown corridor of North Carson Street is now in full swing since the March 7 groundbreaking, and already changes have begun taking shape.

A vehicle pursuit that began in Washoe Valley ended Tuesday night with one man in custody after the vehicle was stopped at the Maverik gas station in the 1400 block of College Parkway in Carson City, according to dispatch.

UPDATE 1:27PM: A Nevada Highway Patrol dispatcher says NHP is able to confirm two people were taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno and that Care Flight was called to the scene. The two had minor injuries, the dispatcher said. It is unclear how many other people were taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital, the dispatcher said. An NHP trooper had said earlier that up to five people were taken to the hospital, between Carson City and Reno. There were two crashes that happened, the first at 11:09 a.m. and the second and more serious reported to NHP at 11:38 a.m.

The Nevada Department of Transportation has reached a milestone in construction of the final leg of the Carson City Freeway, with project work approximately 25 percent complete.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Feb. 15-21, 2016: On Tuesday, Feb. 16, there will be narrowed lanes on Airport Road between Highway 50 and Woodside Drive. Minor delays are expected.

Motorists on I-580 and other freeways approaching Washoe Valley will temporarily see roadside flashing signs prohibiting semi-trucks and other vehicles over nine feet tall between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 as the Nevada Department of Transportation tests a new, enhanced wind warning system through the Valley.

The reconstruction of Carson Street in the downtown corridor will be proceeding as planned this year, said Carson City Transportation Manager Patrick Pittenger.

Construction is expected to begin in March and last until November, Pittenger said, but the project is not going to interfere with Nevada Day Parade festivities.

By then, he said, all of the messy work will be finished and what’s left will be mostly clean-up items.

“We will be open for Nevada Day,” Pittenger said. “When we’re done, Carson Street will be one lane in each direction.”

All skill levels are welcome and leader is willing to work with participants to develop an individual walking program.
