Southbound lanes blocked after rollover crash on Carson City freeway near Lakeview
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 05/02/2016 - 1:12pmCarson City Fire Department, the Nevada Highway Patrol and sheriff's deputies were called Monday afternoon to a single vehicle rollover on the I-580 freeway, in the southbound lane south of Lakeview.
The occupant of the Toyota Tundra, which was hauling a trailer filled with thousands of pieces of white paper, was reportedly out of the vehicle and limping, according to dispatch. The crash was reported at 1:03 p.m.
Hundreds of pieces of paper were blowing across the freeway, according to sheriff's deputies on scene.

Carson City man jailed after allegedly brandishing gun at mother, children on freeway

Carson City Trash Mob returns Saturday to cleanup freeway multi-use trail

For just one hour on the third Saturday of each month, Muscle Powered holds the events at various locations around town. Volunteers, who are supplied with work gloves and trash bags by Muscle Powered staff, remove litter from areas often used by citizens of Carson City for recreational purposes such as walking, jogging, or cycling.

Southbound I-580 at Lakeview Hill reopened after multi-vehicle crashes on Carson City freeway
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 03/19/2016 - 11:47amUPDATE 1:27PM: A Nevada Highway Patrol dispatcher says NHP is able to confirm two people were taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno and that Care Flight was called to the scene. The two had minor injuries, the dispatcher said. It is unclear how many other people were taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital, the dispatcher said. An NHP trooper had said earlier that up to five people were taken to the hospital, between Carson City and Reno. There were two crashes that happened, the first at 11:09 a.m. and the second and more serious reported to NHP at 11:38 a.m.

NDOT to test enhanced Washoe Valley wind warning system Tuesday

Reconstruction of downtown corridor moving forward
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Wed, 01/13/2016 - 6:42pmThe reconstruction of Carson Street in the downtown corridor will be proceeding as planned this year, said Carson City Transportation Manager Patrick Pittenger.
Construction is expected to begin in March and last until November, Pittenger said, but the project is not going to interfere with Nevada Day Parade festivities.
By then, he said, all of the messy work will be finished and what’s left will be mostly clean-up items.
“We will be open for Nevada Day,” Pittenger said. “When we’re done, Carson Street will be one lane in each direction.”

A different walk every week on Tuesdays. Walks are easy paced, on level ground, of approximately 1 hour duration, and of no cost to participants. All skill levels are welcome and leader is willing to work with participants to develop an individual walking program. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and leader may request physician’s release if needed. During rain or snow meet at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC) at 1870 Russell Way.
