Sierra Nevada Forums brings 'Lions, Tracking, and Bears, OH MY: Amazing Creatures in Carson’s Backyard' to the Plaza Event Center, 211 E. Ninth St., Carson City, on Thursday, Jan. 21. Come join in the presentations by Dr. Alyson Andreasen and Carl Lackey as they discuss the behaviors of mountain lions and bears in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The forum begins promptly at 6 p.m. This is a free event, however, donations are always appreciated.

In a remarkable interfaith gesture, Nevada’s faith leaders from various traditions will join together to pray for God’s mercy and for the worldwide Ebola victims and their loved ones and care providers in Nevada Governor’s Mansion on Nov. 13. The public is welcome to this free event which will start at 5:45 p.m. at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion, 606 Mountain St., Carson City.

Sierra-at-Tahoe is taking it to the court Nov. 13, 2014 for the 3rd Annual Sierra Snowball Fight: A Dodgeball Tournament at Steamers Bar and Grill in South Lake Tahoe. Using the iconic childhood game, Sierra will reunite snow bunnies and powder hounds at this free event to celebrate the coming of the season and get into the spirit of winter.

Sierra Resort focuses effort into preseason rituals and events that will create positive momentum, stir up a bit of playful rivalry and get everyone in on the “Pray for Snow” movement.

Carson City, NV - Dudley Chiropractic is hosting a very special event during the month of November for the entire community. The office will be encouraging community members to Pay It Forward to others in need by bringing in non-perishable food items to the office. Community members who donate five or more items will receive a Pay It Forward certificate for a friend.

UPDATE: Carson City will host a presentation, the second of its kind this year, addressing the issue of school bullying, tonight, Thursday, Oct. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.

Members of Teach Anti-Bullying, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit group that works around the country with educators, parents and law enforcement, will discuss what many believe is a crisis affecting communities nationwide. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is located at 1870 Russell Way. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free event.

Many celebrations are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of September. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Sept. 15 through 30.

Nevada’s faith leaders from various traditions will join together to pray for the welfare of the Silver State at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Wednesday, Sept. 17 as a part of Nevada sesquicentennial celebrations.

This multi-faith Service will include prayers by Christian (various denominations), Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Baha’i, Native American, etc., leaders. A “Nevada 150 Signature Event” the gathering is coordinated by religious statesman Rajan Zed.

Tom May and Chris Kennedy are scheduled to perform in Carson City, NV at The Brewery Arts Center performance hall, 511 West King St., Friday, July 25 at 7:30P p.m.

Tom May is a folksinger, songwriter and author who has been touring, performing, and recording for over forty years. He is also the host/producer of the radio show, “River City Folk,” heard on dozens of radio stations weekly since 1985 and on XM Satellite Radio throughout the country.

Many celebrations are scheduled statewide in the month of July. These Nevada 150 events help celebrate all things Nevada and bring awareness to the state’s 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held July 1 through July 12.

In honor of Armed Forces Day, the Capital City Arts Initiative invites you to attend a reading by Iraq veteran and writer Caleb Cage at the BRIC, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

The reading will take place Saturday, May 17 at 5pm. The free event is part of CCAI’s Books & Writers series co-sponsored with the Carson City Library. CCAI and the Library enthusiastically invite everyone to attend the reading.

Please join Bike Habitat and Muscle Powered for the 7th Annual Tour of Carson City bicycle ride! May is Bike Month in Carson City, and we’ll be kicking off the festivities with this fun ride on Sunday, May 4th. Signups are at 9:00 AM, ride begins at 9:30 AM. The ride will begin and end at the Bike Habitat, and tour around the perimeter of Carson City for a moderately paced 27-30 mile bike ride.

The third annual Egg-stravaganza takes place Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at Mark Twain Elementary School in Carson City.
This 16,000+ candy-filled egg hunt is a FREE event for Carson City children. Aged zones are set up for toddlers through 11 years old, with a separate zone for special needs children. Even the Easter Bunny will be there for pictures and to celebrate with the kiddos.

A local band, In Stride, will supply a variety of tunes on different instruments.

The Oncology on Canvas Wine Reception will be a special evening of art, wine, appetizers, entertainment, silent auction, 50/50 mystery raffle and socializing. The event will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, 6 p.m. at the Sierra Nevada Cancer Center, 1460 S. Curry Street in Carson City.

Join Conway's Management and AIM Northern Nevada teaming up to present this awesome evening of music and dance. It will start out with some traditional singing, followed by a rock band, and will close with hip hop music. The majority of artists performing will be young Native Americans.

Christina Trejo and Burton Malotte will be opening up the show with a couple of honor songs and some circle dance songs. Following them will Truckee River Band, Ty Wrekz and then 89ENT.

Corporate to Community Connections, comprised of some of the Silver State’s largest corporations, is sponsoring a free event designed for small, local and diverse businesses in Northern Nevada with the aim of networking and cultivating relationships to grow their business.

The free event will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m, at Harrah’s Reno, 219 North Center Street, Reno, and begins with a networking breakfast. Registrations must be submitted by Sept. 30 by going here.

A chance for Carson City residents to see what it takes to keep the city safe from fire and the kind of heavy equipment used to maintain parks and roads, will be on display Thursday, Sept. 12.

The Carson City Equipment Open House begins at 5 p.m. at the Fire Training Facility at Station 52, 2400 East College Parkway.

The open house provides an opportunity for the city to demonstrate some of its equipment and functions. It is being hosted by the Carson City fire, parks and public works departments. Drinks and hot dogs will be served at this free event.

Fans of the iconic film "12 Angry Men" will be in for a special treat tonight as Plan B: Microlounge in Carson City shows the film for free.

Before the film, at 6 p.m., the cast of Proscenium Players "12 Angry Jurors" will make an appearance, in costume and in character. The director of the play, which opens August 16 at Silver State Charter School, will also be on hand to answer questions.

Alternative energy and transportation come to Nevada's oldest settlement for the 7th Annual Green Living Festival on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. This free event features sustainable living workshops, exhibitors, food (made using alternative energy), networking, and hands-on activities for families, all on the The Nature Conservancy's 800 acre River Fork Ranch, minutes from historic Genoa and the scenic Genoa Trail System. The aviation community soars again at the Carson City Airport this Saturday with its "Flight Plan for the Future" open house — a family favorite among airplane, aircraft and aerospace enthusiasts of all ages.

The annual free event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carson City Airport, 2600 College Parkway. More than 4,000 visitors attended in 2012, and this year’s open house promises plenty of excitement with dozens of aircraft on display and FREE plane rides for children 8-17 years of age.
