Ninth St., Carson City, on Thursday, Jan. 21. Come join in the presentations by Dr. Alyson Andreasen and Carl Lackey as they discuss the behaviors of mountain lions and bears in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The forum begins promptly at 6 p.m. This is a free event, however, donations are always appreciated.

In a remarkable interfaith gesture, Nevada’s faith leaders from various traditions will join together to pray for God’s mercy and for the worldwide Ebola victims and their loved ones and care providers in Nevada Governor’s Mansion on Nov. 13. The public is welcome to this free event which will start at 5:45 p.m. at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion, 606 Mountain St., Carson City.
Third annual Sierra Snowball Fight, Pray For Snow party returns

Using the iconic childhood game, Sierra will reunite snow bunnies and powder hounds at this free event to celebrate the coming of the season and get into the spirit of winter.
Sierra Resort focuses effort into preseason rituals and events that will create positive momentum, stir up a bit of playful rivalry and get everyone in on the “Pray for Snow” movement.

National anti-bullying group featured tonight at Boys and Girls Club in Carson City

Members of Teach Anti-Bullying, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit group that works around the country with educators, parents and law enforcement, will discuss what many believe is a crisis affecting communities nationwide. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is located at 1870 Russell Way. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free event.

This multi-faith Service will include prayers by Christian (various denominations), Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Baha’i, Native American, etc., leaders. A “Nevada 150 Signature Event” the gathering is coordinated by religious statesman Rajan Zed.
Nationally recognized western singer-songwriter duo to perform in Carson City

Tom May is a folksinger, songwriter and author who has been touring, performing, and recording for over forty years. He is also the host/producer of the radio show, “River City Folk,” heard on dozens of radio stations weekly since 1985 and on XM Satellite Radio throughout the country.

May is Bike Month in Carson City, and we’ll be kicking off the festivities with this fun ride on Sunday, May 4th. Signups are at 9:00 AM, ride begins at 9:30 AM. The ride will begin and end at the Bike Habitat, and tour around the perimeter of Carson City for a moderately paced 27-30 mile bike ride.
Third Annual Easter Egg-stravaganza

This 16,000+ candy-filled egg hunt is a FREE event for Carson City children. Aged zones are set up for toddlers through 11 years old, with a separate zone for special needs children. Even the Easter Bunny will be there for pictures and to celebrate with the kiddos.

Contra Dance

George Grover will be calling and he'll start with a beginner's workshop at 6:30 pm. The main dance will follow around 6:45 pm. Make sure to wear comfy shoes and clothes. Feel free to bring a water bottle.
Adults: $10
17 & Under: $3
Non-dancers: Free
A local band, In Stride, will supply a variety of tunes on different instruments.

Fundraiser for The Longest Walk 4!

It will start out with some traditional singing, followed by a rock band, and will close with hip hop music. The majority of artists performing will be young Native Americans.
Christina Trejo and Burton Malotte will be opening up the show with a couple of honor songs and some circle dance songs. Following them will Truckee River Band, Ty Wrekz and then 89ENT.

Carson City hosts Sept. 12 fire and heavy equipment open house

The Carson City Equipment Open House begins at 5 p.m. at the Fire Training Facility at Station 52, 2400 East College Parkway.
The open house provides an opportunity for the city to demonstrate some of its equipment and functions. It is being hosted by the Carson City fire, parks and public works departments. Drinks and hot dogs will be served at this free event.
Plan B hosts free showing of '12 Angry Men' and hosts '12 Angry Jurors' cast meet and greet

Before the film, at 6 p.m., the cast of Proscenium Players "12 Angry Jurors" will make an appearance, in costume and in character. The director of the play, which opens August 16 at Silver State Charter School, will also be on hand to answer questions.

Carson City makes 'flight plan for the future' with Saturday's aviation open house
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 06/14/2013 - 8:06amThe aviation community soars again at the Carson City Airport this Saturday with its "Flight Plan for the Future" open house — a family favorite among airplane, aircraft and aerospace enthusiasts of all ages.
The annual free event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carson City Airport, 2600 College Parkway. More than 4,000 visitors attended in 2012, and this year’s open house promises plenty of excitement with dozens of aircraft on display and FREE plane rides for children 8-17 years of age.
