With a little help from the wind and a birds-eye view, we're flying into Friday, April 5, 2019 with plenty to do and see as we get ready for the weekend. National Weather Service forecasters say it will be a breezy day with some rain. But don't let that dampen your day as there's art showings, live music and hilarious comedy venues at the Brewery Arts Center and Carson Nugget.

Enjoy a night out for some great comedy at the Brewery Art Center’s Black Box Theatre in Carson City this Friday, April 5. Each month, there is a different show by the BAC Improv Troupe that they come up with right on the spot.

Not only is Friday the first day of March in this 2019 calendar year but it is also the end of the work week. And for this we say welcome to a month that brings us the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, which is this Saturday, NCAA basketball playoffs, St. Patrick's Day celebrations and the first day of spring. First Choice Consulting presents a Black History Program at the Studio, located inside the Adams Business Hub, 111 W. Proctor Street in Carson City.

According to Michael Smith, CEO of First Choice Consulting, a premier educational consultant firm will present a video screening titled "Educating Black Boys" after the 30 minute video screening there will be a discussion and reflections opportunity.

Immediately afterward the video screening, attendees will have an opportunity to sample soul food delicacies prepared by members of the community.

Virginia City is known for two things: mining history and quirky, off-the-wall events. In 2019, those two things are joined together with the announcement of the historic Nevada town’s annual special events lineup and online ticket sales.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — There will be a free event called “Remembering American Flat” this Saturday on the Comstock. The event includes three parts – a screening of a new documentary that covers the history of the American Flat mill from its inception in the 1920s to its demolition in 2014; a short lecture about the unique qualities of the mill by consulting architectural historian and industrial archaeologist Ron Reno, PhD; and a pop-up show with locals’ rare photos of the site.

Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada will host their ultimate balloon scavenger hunt adventure on Sunday, September 9 from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m at the Great Reno Balloon Race in Rancho San Rafael Park.

Girls will meet balloon pilots, help clean the park, and join other Girl Scouts from across their council. Everyone is welcome to join the fun including family, friends, and not-yet Girl Scouts. And yes – this is a free event!

On a twist of the classic Oktoberfest, Carson City's Shoe Tree Brewing Company will be opening its doors to punk lovers again for it's "Punk Rocktober Fest," Oct. 13, including a punk rock flea market, bands, food, vendors, games, and of course, beer.

A rummage sale to benefit Silver City Arts will begin at 9 a.m. and an afternoon and evening of live music will run 3 to 8 p.m. Starting at 2:30 beer, wine and soda will be for sale to benefit the Silver City School House and future music events.
