Parks and Recreation month in Carson City features music, stories, family entertainment
July is National Parks and Recreation Month. As part of the celebration, the events listed below are happening at the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 East William Street, Carson City. All of these amazing shows are free to the public.

This is a free event with limited seating on a first come basis (Refer to attached event flyer).
A one man show and historical disquisition on the creation of Nevada Territory- — including Carson City. Experience the dramatic telling of the amazing true story of Major William Ormsby and Lucky Bill--arch rivals. Learn of the intrigue, plots and violence along the eastern slope during the 1850s, a drama seldom remembered today but guaranteed to educate and entertain.

This is a free ticketed event. Tickets can be picked up at the Carson City Aquatic Facility (841 N. Roop Street) beginning July 8, 2013. (Refer to attached event flyer).
“Fable” is a production presented by Le Cirque Vagabond. It offers cirque-style entertainment and presents a story unlike any other that will amaze and astound audiences of all ages! Set in a surreal world that will overtake the senses and distort perception, the show travels the course of the imagination to the depths of the unknown. Witness death-defying stunts, stunning aerial acts, breathtaking choreography, and cirque acts that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

The preview is a free event with seating on a first come basis. Regular Performances — tickets $12 General Admission, $10 Students and Seniors (Refer to attached event flyer).
With its poignant story and catchy Caribbean flavored score, “Once On This Island, Jr.” is a feast for the heart, mind, and soul. In almost non-stop song and dance, the show tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death. “Once On This Island, Jr.” runs August 9-18 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre. Youth Theatre Carson City is an exciting new youth theatre group in Carson City operating in partnership with Carson City Parks and Recreation. They provide a safe, inclusive environment for young people and their families to explore, create, learn and grow through quality theatrical experiences.
