A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the 2700 block of Sherman Lane for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and five misdemeanor offenses.

A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday morning for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, gross misdemeanor destruction of property, and misdemeanor domestic battery, a sheriff's deputy report said.

The following is from the Sheriff's Office: Due to anticipated cold, wet, windy weather conditions Carson City Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform the community of the cancellation of the Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party which was scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the National Weather Service a slight chance of showers and potential for wind is predicted. Unfavorable weather conditions may cause significant disruption in the planned outdoor activities. The event cannot be relocated indoors as accommodations are limited. Staff of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank those interested in attending and appreciates the community’s support.

The 16th annual Cops and Kids Safe Streets Party, hosted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, will be held Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office administration building, 911 East Musser Street.

Public safety, awareness and community are at the center of this popular annual spring event where the theme is “Cops and Kids: Where the Community and Law Enforcement Come Together.”

Vacancy Report shows Carson City's tight market, new apartment complexes coming soon

The 2019 Vacancy Study for Carson City has been released, showing a growing trend of low vacancies, especially in multi-family residential complexes and industrial space.

According to the study, however, there are several projects either underway or waiting for approval, including new apartment complexes, industrial buildings, school expansions, a dog boarding facility, and more.

Carson City SET deputies arrest 'last two suspects of a large commercial theft ring'

Three people were arrested by Special Enforcement Team after robbing a local hardware store.

A 31-year-old Hayward, Calif. man was arrested in the area of I-580 and Highway 50 for driving with a license revoked due to DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without insurance, and speeding 11-15 mph over the posted limit.

With him were three passengers, one a 27-year-old Reno woman named Maggie Marie Giles, the second a 30-year-old Reno man named Mark Lynn Jones, who were both arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools, and possession of stolen property. The third passenger was not arrest.

Deputies arrest man for securing a door with a dog leash, driving into stranger's yard

A 25-year-old man was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies in the 1700 block of Stewart Street Thursday evening for DUI drugs, failure to maintain a lane, driving without a driver’s license in possession, driving without a front plate, and driving with an unsecured load.

SET deputies observed a vehicle exiting a parking lot on Winnie Lane and observed it was driving without a front license plate. They also observed there was a full rear lift gate for a Ford Explorer on the roof the car, strapped on top of the roof with a thin dog-leash, which was insufficient to hold the weight of the door.

Sonoma Dog Park in Carson City resembled a land of giants Saturday afternoon as Great Danes romped with other canine cousins.

Rocko and Daisy, a pair of Danes who recently moved with their owners to Carson City from Reno, were not shy about mingling with other dogs and humans.

They seemed particularly taken by a game of tennis ball chase with their playmate Odin.

Rocko, age 5, stands about 42 inches at the shoulder, his owner said.
