Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Woman arrested for obstructing officers dealing with suicidal subject

A 40-year-old woman from Waterloo, Iowa was arrested by Carson City Sheriff's deputies for misdemeanor obstruction Tuesday night.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a report of a suicidal woman armed with a steak knife in the 200 block of Jeanell Drive. The reporting party was hiding in another bedroom out of the fear of the subject.

Deputies who contacted the suicidal subject confirmed she had a knife, but was at first calm. One of the deputies tried to talk her into coming outside without the knife in her hand.

Carson City sheriff's crime report for Thursday

A 23-year-old transient, Sean Paul McCracken, was arrested Tuesday, 4:05 p.m. at Selby and La Loma streets on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, an officer stopped the vehicle for an expired license tag and made contact with the driver. The officer smelled a light odor of marijuana and asked the man about it. The man told the officer he had a “roach” in the ashtray. The officer asked if that was all he had. The man said yes.

An 18-year-old Carson City man was jailed Wednesday on felony suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation and false imprisonment, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Connor J. Jurosovich was arrested at 12:50 p.m. in the 800 block of Coffey Drive. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He’s being held on $36,874 bail.

Carson City Judge sentences man in Olive Garden rampage calling actions an 'act of terrorism'

A Carson City judge sentenced a 57-year-old man to prison for terrorizing customers and employees with a loaded weapon at an Olive Garden restaurant here in July 2013.

David Paul Lane was handed the maximum sentence of at least 11 years by Judge James Wilson on one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of carrying a concealed weapon following last month's conviction.

On July 21, 2013, Lane entered Olive Garden with a concealed firearm, drew it and pointed it at employees and patrons. In arguing for the maximum sentence, Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger stated:

Ex-felon, gang member jailed after witnesses said he brandished gun at park

A 25-year-old ex-felon with ties to gangs was arrested Saturday in Carson City after he was seen Friday in Douglas County with a gun, attempting to provoke a fight among rival gang members and juveniles, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Andrew William Tagay was jailed on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges, including being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. His bail was set at $500,000. He was taken into custody in the 1200 block of Palo Verde by Tri-County Gang Unit deputies who responded to Mills Park.

Carson City man arrested on illegal weapon charges

A 35-year-old Carson City ex-felon was arrested Thursday on suspicion of gross misdemeanor concealing and possessing a dangerous, illegal weapon.

The man was stopped for jaywalking across Long and Carson Street at around 6:30 p.m. He is known for prior felony entanglements with the law involving theft and drugs.

During a pat down for weapons, a Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team officer observed what appeared to be a bicycle pump hanging out of his right pants pocket while speaking with the man.

Carson City Sheriff's Office administration functions closed Friday in honor of Arlene Keller

The Carson City Sheriff's Office administrative functions will be closed Friday as staff pays their respects to Arlene Denmark Keller, 64, a Lead Support Specialist with the sheriff's office since 1991, who died April 19, 2014.

Services will be held Friday, 10 a.m. at Shepherd of the Sierra, 3680 Highway 395. Keller is survived by her husband Charles Keller, daughters Hilary Smith, Wendy Tims and son Charles Keller III. A loving wife and mother, her laughter and cheer will be missed by all at the city and Sheriff’s Office staff.

Ex-felon jailed on warrant charge after admitting to taking meth, calling 911

A Carson City man was arrested Nov. 5, 7 p.m. near Sherman Lane and Dori Way. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of being an ex-felon carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor charges of failure to register as an ex-felon and not having a bicycle headlight.

According to the arrest report, a deputy patrolling the area stopped the man for not having a headlight on his bicycle. The arresting officer asked the man if he had any identification and the man responded he did not and provided a name and birth date.

Carson City sheriff describes tense scene with gunman at Olive Garden restaurant Sunday

At 8:53 Sunday evening, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified of a violent threat at the Olive Garden Restaurant on South Carson Street.

Initial reports indicated that a man, later identified as David Paul Lane had entered the business alone and at some point became agitated, then confronted the manager and staff with a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

A 56-year-old Douglas County man was arrested after he allegedly drew a gun and threatened a manager and chef at Olive Garden in Carson City Sunday night.

David Lane, 56, who lives on Mica Drive in Douglas County and is said to have an extensive criminal background, was arrested by Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies following the incident, reported to Carson City authorities at 8:53 p.m. No one was injured.

Nevada no longer recognizes Arizona’s concealed weapon permits

CARSON CITY — Beginning today, Nevada no longer recognizes Arizona's concealed weapons permits, the Nevada Department of Public Safety announced.

At a Feb. 28 meeting of the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ association, the groups unanimously agreed to end the recognition of concealed weapon permits. According to a news release, the action was taken in accordance with Nevada Revised Statue 202.3689.

Car reported stolen in Carson City recovered, two arrested in Reno

Two people were arrested in Reno early Wednesday morning and face multiple felony charges after being found driving a car stolen from Carson City, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

Arrested were Samuel Phompadith, 31, and Jennifer Violet Peters, 30. Both are from Reno. The 1993 Honda Civic they had been driving had been originally reported stolen by the owner earlier this month to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Felony assault arrests keep Carson City officers busy during Nevada Day weekend

Carson City officers arrested five people on Saturday with two facing felony assault charges after a fight at the former Toads Bar in Carson City.

Officers responded to the bar in the 300 block of William Street at 10:22 p.m. where they observed two men dragging, kicking and punching a man near the front entrance. Arresting officers ordered the men involved in the melee to the ground, which they complied, according to the arrest report.

Crime log: Carson City man pulled over for turn signal, arrested for meth

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Brian Martin, 29, a Carson City man, at about 11 p.m. Thursday evening near the 2000 block of Lone Mountain Drive. Martin was arrested for a felony possession of methamphetamines and the following misdemeanors: possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a turn signal violation. The car that Martin was driving was impounded with Capital Tow. Bail was set at $4,125.

Crime Log: Dayton man arrested for felony pot possession

A truck with a suspended registration led to the arrest of a Dayton man for felony possession of more than one ounce of marijuana.

Nevada to recognize carry concealed weapons permits of 15 states

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association members agreed at a meeting last month to recognize the carry concealed weapon permits of 15 states as being valid in Nevada beginning July 1.

The states agreed to at the May 5 meeting are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee and West Virginia, according to a news release submitted by Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
