Carson City Host Lions Club to Install Officers

The Carson City Host Lions will hold an Installation Dinner on Wednesday, June 24 beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. at the Carson City Plaza Events Center, with dinner following at 6 p.m. Region Chair Adam Hopkins from the Reno Cigar Lions Club will perform the installation ceremony. Retiring Carson City sheriff's DARE officer leaves legacy of relationship building with kids, parents and community

For more than 15 years, Lisa Davis served as the DARE officer for Carson City. Her last day is Thursday as she and her husband Bob will be relocating to Oregon. She leaves Carson City with many accomplishments in providing children guidance and away from falling into the trap of alcohol and drugs.

Carson CIty's Silver Oak Golf Club to host Livermore Kids Golf Academy

Ryan Livermore, PGA presents the Livermore Kids Golf Academy at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City. Ryan has more than 8 years of experience teaching kids the fundamentals of the sport of golf. Carson City Kiwanis would like to take a moment and thank everyone who have participated in our virtual Meals on Wheels fundraiser. There is a strong outpouring of support for our cause to raise money for the local Meals on Wheels program.

Seven Democrats run in the primary for Nevada's Second Congressional seat

Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District encompasses the northern part of the silver state including Carson City and the counties Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humbolt, Lander, Pershing, Storey and Washoe, as well as a part of Lyon County.

The district has never sent a Democrat to Washington. However, there are currently seven Democrats vying for the job, opposing Republican incumbent Mark Amodei.

Carson City Kiwanis supports local causes serving children, youth, elderly and disabled. Focused on this mission, the club hosts an annual Bingo and Pasta Feed to support the Carson City Senior Citizen’s Center Meals on Wheels program. Unfortunately, like many other local events, the club was forced to cancel the April 2020 fundraiser due to COVID-19.

A 39-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer among multiple offenses after attempting to attack a deputy with a knife, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team report.

These funds will help us to provide food at our three different food banks and our Carson City dining room, which has vastly increased in demand due to COVID-19.
