The Carson City Host Lions will hold an Installation Dinner on Wednesday, June 24 beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. at the Carson City Plaza Events Center, with dinner following at 6 p.m. Region Chair Adam Hopkins from the Reno Cigar Lions Club will perform the installation ceremony. Under Phase 2 people are once again able to enjoy working out somewhere other than their living rooms with the re-opening of gyms and fitness centers, and gym owners are stepping up social distancing measures to make sure everyone stays healthy.

The Virtual Meals on Wheels fundraiser hosted by Carson City Kiwanis proved to be a big success.

The event raised $3,855.44, including a $1,000 anonymous donation and a donation from the club itself of $1,000 donation.

Summer is in full swing, and recreational activities around Carson City are starting to return in the near future.

After the statewide shutdown in March due to COVID-19, Carson City area casinos are preparing to return to business this week, joining dozens of casinos in northern Nevada as they are set to resume operations on Thursday, June 4, the first day gaming establishments are allowed to reopen.

For more than 15 years, Lisa Davis served as the DARE officer for Carson City. Her last day is Thursday as she and her husband Bob will be relocating to Oregon. She leaves Carson City with many accomplishments in providing children guidance and away from falling into the trap of alcohol and drugs.

Ryan Livermore, PGA presents the Livermore Kids Golf Academy at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City. Ryan has more than 8 years of experience teaching kids the fundamentals of the sport of golf. The Livermore Kids Golf Academy is a fun and engaging way for children ages 6-14 to learn the game of golf. Carson City Kiwanis would like to take a moment and thank everyone who have participated in our virtual Meals on Wheels fundraiser. There is a strong outpouring of support for our cause to raise money for the local Meals on Wheels program.

As a reminder, we are contiuing to raise funds through Sunday, June 7, 2020.

Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District encompasses the northern part of the silver state including Carson City and the counties Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humbolt, Lander, Pershing, Storey and Washoe, as well as a part of Lyon County.

The district has never sent a Democrat to Washington. However, there are currently seven Democrats vying for the job, opposing Republican incumbent Mark Amodei.

The Carson Educational Support Association would like to thank the following businesses for sponsoring and donating to our educational support staff banquet. Although the banquet was canceled due to the Covid 19 pandemic, prizes have been given to the CESA members who won Classified of the Year.

The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada announced that it will be continuing with its 10-week summer program, providing a space for school-aged children during the summer months.

The Toastmasters program helps learners find their path to leadership by giving speeches, leading teams, and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere.

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce six high school seniors (four from Carson High School and two from Pioneer High School) who have shown exceptional academic prowess. The valedictorian and salutatorian honors represent the students who have earned the highest and second highest ranks, respectively, among their graduating class.

Carson City Kiwanis supports local causes serving children, youth, elderly and disabled. Focused on this mission, the club hosts an annual Bingo and Pasta Feed to support the Carson City Senior Citizen’s Center Meals on Wheels program. Unfortunately, like many other local events, the club was forced to cancel the April 2020 fundraiser due to COVID-19.

A 39-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer among multiple offenses after attempting to attack a deputy with a knife, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team report.

Starting July 8th, 2020 and every Wednesday night thereafter for the next 5 weeks Carson City will have free drive-in movies at the Brewery Arts Center parking lot!

Carson City Republican Women will hear candidates running for local offices in the June primary at their upcoming meeting Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 12 noon.

Another great deed: A huge thank you to Lisa Hollenbeck, the President of Cap City Passport Rotary Club and Joe Lushina, the President of Carson City Rotary Club for this kind and generous donation from our local Rotary Clubs.

These funds will help us to provide food at our three different food banks and our Carson City dining room, which has vastly increased in demand due to COVID-19.

Karson Kruzers car club is cancelling their 35th Year "Run What Cha Brung" car show, which would have been July 25, 2020 at Mills Park in Carson City. We will reschedule for next year, July 24, 2021.

The cancellation of Hot August Night’s ‘Spring Fever Revival’ isn’t slowing Dayton and Carson City area classic car owners from spreading some joy in these challenging times.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will take place Thursday May 7 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

In the current climate of business closures, Casino Fandango has created a way to connect with, and lift the spirits of patrons with a free virtual game for Players Club members as well as the general public to play each week.

The Flip a Chip game will be released on Monday, April 27th.
