Lions Club International has been a non-profit service organization since it was founded in 1917. In 1925, Helen Keller attended the Lions Clubs International Convention and challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.” Since then, Lions have become well-known for their sight conservation, diabetes awareness, and youth programs.
The Carson City Host Lions have served the Carson City area since 1932. The Club members actively support the sight conservation program, providing resources for eye exams, glasses, and surgeries for Carson City residents that cannot otherwise afford them.
The Carson City Host Lions also work to assist local charitable groups, including Northern Nevada Dream Center, Food for Thought, Honor Flight, Children’s Museum, scholarships for Carson High seniors, and the Lions Quest program.
