Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

Former Carson City resident, hypnotist to headline Mission Remission 2 benefit
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Thu, 10/19/2017 - 7:26amWhen the average American hears the word ‘Hypnosis,’ they probably believe that they will be made to silly things like bark like a dog, quack like duck or something much more serious, like rob a bank, or say or do things against their will.
Evangelist holds rally at State Capitol in Carson City
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Wed, 03/30/2016 - 4:37pmWell-known Christian evangelist Franklin Graham held a rally Wednesday afternoon at the State Capitol amphitheatre in Carson City, encouraging people to live out their faith and get involved in the political process.
The event was part of Graham's Decision America Tour 2016, a national outreach effort of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) to visit the state capitals of all 50 states this year, spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and encourage grass-roots involvement in the political process in communities across the country.
We’re Thankful a Commerce Tax Referendum Is Moving Forward
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 11/25/2015 - 12:19pmToday we’re thankful that the widely despised Commerce Tax is moving toward a Nevada voter referendum.
Acting for the concerned citizens of RIP Commerce Tax, Inc., Ron filed a referendum petition on that tax in October. Tax-hike advocates brought a meritless law suit seeking to deny you a vote on it. RIP filed its answer, and a hearing on the case will be held 9 AM Wednesday, December 2 at Carson City’s court house. After defeating this suit, we’ll have legions of folks gathering signatures to put it to a vote next November.
Hypocrisy exists in anti-smoking message
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 10/18/2015 - 6:48pmYou see it on television, and hear it on the radio frequently. You read it in print or online just about everywhere.
Don’t smoke. Smoking kills.
The anti-smoking crusade, which started back in the seventies and picked up steam in the eighties, has succeeded in getting Joe Camel and the Marlboro Man removed completely from the media. Tobacco is the first thing to get taxed whenever government needs more revenue. And states have passed laws banning tobacco use in public and private spaces.
Mental health is Nevada’s albatross
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 08/24/2015 - 9:23pmDuring this year’s legislative session, my wife and I approached our state legislators about resources for Nevada’s most underserved population: The mentally ill.
There is a health crisis in our state, one which has grown into an epidemic across the nation, but one that is especially endemic right here in the Silver State.
Having lived more than twelve years in a state that seems to cater to many human vices, this comes as no surprise to me.
Adam the Ideologue
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 07/15/2015 - 9:52amAdam Laxalt is using his office to jump on one anti-federal bandwagon after another, from immigration policy to health care implementation and now to enforcement of clean water rules. In every case, the new AG throws around the term "unconstitutional," as if he is personally endowed with the power to decide which policies of the federal government do and don't comply with the constitution of the United States. He is not.
Here are the facts behind Laxalt's latest ideological crusade:

The Education of Len Semas-Jim Wheeler and the Modern Conservative Movement-Is Barry Goldwater A Liberal?
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 12/29/2013 - 2:33pmBarry Goldwater’s War against the Religious Right
Known as ‘Mr. Conservative,’ Barry Goldwater embodied conservative values throughout his service as a Senator from Arizona, but he would oppose much of what conservatives have been doing today.
Present day conservatives take many of their marching orders from the Christian right, also known as social conservatives, but Barry Goldwater resoundingly rejected them as extremists who disgrace the word ‘conservatism.’
