Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will host its October Full Moon Hike up Prison Hill on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8:30 to 10 p.m., with the trail lit by the light of the moon.

Going into the second week of October, there's plenty of events around the capital city for this Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 including a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered. There's also art showings, the grand opening of Carson City's Postal Annex, family movie night at the Carson City Library featuring "Muppets from Space," as well as Big Band jazz music with a fall theme at Living the Good Life and more. Hello fellow anglers. Fall is officially upon us and things are changing in our local area.

Lakes are opening for Public Lands Day. Even if you are not an angler and just enjoy the great outdoors, then September 28th is a day to get out and enjoy Public Lands Day. This day all national and state parks in the United States are free to all. This will include entrance, parking, camping and boating on this day (where applicable). The next Public Lands Day will be November 11th of this year.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of jam-packed activities over the next three days. Events include the 100th annual Candy Dance in Genoa, the Carson City Community Center Garage Sale, free walks at Nevada State Parks, Virginia City’s Street Vibrations Fall Rally, the 31st annual All-Breed Dog Shows, The Beatles Flashback tribute band concert and much more!

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will host a “Fall Tot Trot” Sunday, October 5 beginning at 10 a.m. at Riverview Park.

This interpretive hike includes a scavenger hunt to learn about the Carson River habitat, and will help foster a love of exploring the outdoors!

Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Hello fellow anglers. We have a few things going on in our local area. For anglers that fish Topaz Lake, you have until the end of the month to wet a line. As of October 1st, the lake will be closed until January 1, 2020. There is some speculation into next years fishing season.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region packed with excitement over the next three days. Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

CARSON CITY — Southbound U.S. 395 will be reduced to one lane in northern Carson Valley this Wednesday, Sept. 4 as the Nevada Department of Transportation repaves sections of roadway surface.

Going into Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, we're looking at sunshine and temperatures in the low 90s. Events around the capital city include a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a scary makeup demonstration at the Brewery Arts Center and the 1946 version of "The Postman Always Rings Twice," presented by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club. CARSON CITY — V&T Railway will hold auditions for the 2019 Polar Express season on Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 6 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 7 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Eastgate Depot in Carson City. The railway is looking for actors, actresses and singers, age 13 and up to play roles from the popular movie including stewards and conductors, elves and Santa Claus.

Today features a morning bike ride, outdoor journaling and adventuring at Riverview Park, a woman's veteran support group meeting at Mills Park, the last day of the Virginia City Rodeo and Fiesta del Charro, the KVNC outdoor concert at its Minnesota street studio and the finale of the 2019 Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival. Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

Carson City resident and fishing enthusiast Kevin Andrews sent us photos of his latest catch, a very large, largemouth bass he caught Wednesday on the Carson River which may either be a record-breaker for the river or pretty close.

Hello fellow anglers, Just returned from a couple weeks of fishing from our local area to the Rogue River Valley in Oregon. The day we arrived, they had a wild fire that started at 200 acres and by the next day it was over 10,000. Grants pass was smokey and hard to breath, so Renee, my cousin Steve and I ventured to Brookings OR to do some salmon fishing.

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.
