A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday night in the 1000 block of South Roop Street for suspicion of gross misdemeanor child neglect and endangerment after his two toddlers were discovered wandering outside late at night without any supervision.

A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 300 block of East Winnie Lane on Saturday evening for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation, felony dissuading a victim from reporting a crime, and a gross misdemeanor of false imprisonment, a sheriff's deputy said.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for assistance in identifying possible suspects in a vehicle burglary that occurred in Carson City and subsequent credit card fraud that occurred in Douglas County.

This easy hike occurs on the second Saturday of each month. Distances range between 2-4 miles and include minimal or no elevation.

Meet at the red barn at Silver Saddle Ranch off of Carson River Road. On Carson River Road turn by the Silver Saddle Ranch and proceed through the gate. Follow the dirt road straight and it will bare to the left heading east and then you will see the red buildings ahead where you park. Water and closed-toes shoes are REQUIRED. Hat and sunscreen recommended. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.

Deputies with the Carson City Sheriff's Office responded to a report from emergency dispatch of a Jeep that had rolled over off Sierra Vista Lane near the Mexican Dam Saturday morning just after 10 a.m.

Another successful volunteer event was held this Saturday at East Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City. Our department wants to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our small but mighty group of 4 who attended Saturday's cottonwood wrapping. We successfully wrapped 25 trees in about a 90 minute time span.

A day of remembrance, heroism that won’t be forgotten, today is Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018. Take a stroll with Muscle Powered: today’s hike will wind through the far east side of Carson, from Silver Saddle Ranch to Mexican Dam. Artsy Fartsy Art Galley hosts an artist meet and greet for Catherine King; enjoy a glass of wine while discovering her newest work. Head down the rabbit hole, and you may wind up on McFadden Plaza. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club brings the recent live-action version of Alice in Wonderland to the big screen on the downtown stage.

I’m not even going to speculate on the air quality, but please use your best judgement when choosing your activities and there may be some cancellations that I am not aware of. Downtown has a full day of options, but the back roads may be a little more difficult to navigate due to construction projects. The great music that awaits will be worth the hassle. Due to heavy smoke settling on the area, the RoseBud's Dance Band's performance for Monday, Aug. 6, as part of the Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival has been moved to inside the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. The concert was originally planned for Comma Courtyard, but the performers want to present the event in a comfortable and healthy atmosphere.

Friday opens the 15th annual Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival in Carson City that features 17 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in Carson City, August 3-19.

With the end of the heat wave nowhere in sight, people are beginning to get a little stir crazy stuck inside lying in front of the air-conditioning all day. Luckily, Carson City and the surrounding areas offer many options to keep cool while we wait for high temperatures to come down some.
