Carson City Sheriff's Office investigates vehicle burglary, credit card fraud case
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for assistance in identifying possible suspects in a vehicle burglary that occurred in Carson City and subsequent credit card fraud that occurred in Douglas County.
On Friday February 1, 2019, a Carson City resident parked her vehicle at a Prison Hill trail head near Fifth Street and Carson River Road. The resident went hiking on Prison Hill and when she returned to her vehicle, she discovered her vehicle had been broken in to.
The victim's credit cards were taken from the vehicle. The victim’s credit cards were used at several businesses on Topsy Lane in Douglas County.
Video surveillance from the businesses shows four possible Asian male suspects using the victim’s credit cards. The suspects were driving what appeared to be a green Audi Q7 SUV, unknown license plates. Attached are photographs of the suspects and vehicle.
Vehicle burglaries are common at trail head parking lots and park and ride locations. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office recommends when parking at trail heads and park and ride locations not to leave valuables such as wallets inside vehicles.
