Muscle Powered Easy Hike to Silver Saddle Ranch toward the Mexican Dam

Meet near the barns on Silver Saddle Ranch off of Carson River Road. Closed-toed shoes and water are required. Bring water, a friend and/or friendly dogs. Hats, sunscreen and walking sticks recommended.

Muscle Powered Easy Hike program are hikes of between 2 to 4 miles in length, often with some elevation gain (no more than 500') and can be on a paved path, smooth wide trail, or single track. The hikes will usually be of approximately 1 1/2 duration.

Dates set for summer 2017 Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival

Mile High Jazz Band Association and Carson City will present the 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Festival, featuring 18 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in the capital city, Aug. 4-21.

Celebrate the classic film and our classy library with an afternoon showing of the movie. Our high school and middle school student orchestras invite you to their free winter concert at the Community Center this evening. The brand-new Harmony Sculpture Park at the Brewery Arts Center is the perfect place to make some music: the ribbon cutting is at 1 p.m. The new FoodMax will open in early December and jobs are still available: the job fair at Job Connect will put you in the running. Let Firehouse Subs take care of dinner tonight, and do something for our local Relay for Life in the process. We are in for some wet weather over the next few days, so please slow down and watch for slick roads.

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 3000 block of Highway 50 East for felony suspicion of being in possession of a counterfeit $100 bill and misdemeanor violation of pre-trial supervision.

Mile High Jazz Band Association and Carson City present the 13th Annual Jazz & Beyond Festival. It features 17 days of Music and Art at multiple venues in Carson City, August 5-21.

"Jazz & Beyond is a homegrown event celebrating the talent of our region and relying on many local music fans who donate their time and effort," said committee co-chair David Bugli, President of the Mile High Jazz Band Assoc. "Volunteers, sponsors, and advertisers help us make the event one of the best in the area, and keep most performances admission free."
