Carson City Redevelopment Authority and Culture and Tourism Boards are seeking new board members
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee as well as the Culture and Tourism Authority.
There are two (2) open positions for the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee: “Citizen-at-Large” and one (1) open position: Business or Property Owner Redevelopment Area 2 each to fill a term that will expire January 1, 2025.
The Committee’s primary purpose is to make recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority on Redevelopment Area Plans, incentive programs, special event funding, and other matters pertaining to the Redevelopment District.
Applicants should be aware that a minimum commitment of up to ten hours a month is expected. All members will serve without compensation.
Applicants must be Carson City registered voters. Let it be known that all applications submitted to this office will be considered public information.
Applications will be accepted until January 8, 2021.
Interviews for the volunteer position will be scheduled for the first available Board of Supervisors meeting upon receipt of qualified applications.
The Board of Supervisors regularly meets on the first and third Thursday of the month.
Thank you for your interest in assisting Carson City.
The Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority (“CTA”) Board oversees all
tourism matters within Carson City. Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 4:00 p.m. at the Community Center in the Sierra Room.
Applicants must be willing to commit approximately six to eight hours a month.
There is one (1) position open on the CTA for a two (2)-year term for a person who can represent “other commercial interests.”
Applicants for this position must be able to represent “other commercial interests” in Carson City. For example, owners, operators, managers, or other representatives of business in Carson City may qualify.
However, the applicant may not be a representative of hotel or motel operators. All members will serve without compensation. The City’s Boards, Committees, and Commissions Policy and Procedures and the application can be viewed online at www.carson.org/volunteer. All applications submitted to this office will be considered public information.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint a qualified person to the Board. Interviews for this volunteer position are tentatively planned to be held at a regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on a Thursday, date TBD.
Thank you for your interest in assisting Carson City.
