Man jailed on felony domestic battery charges after allegedly choking pregnant wife
A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night on felony domestic battery charges after allegedly choking his pregnant wife, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Damien Gabriel Dominguez was arrested and then released later on $15,000 bail following the incident.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to the 500 block of Jeanell Drive at 11:24 p.m. and made contact with the victim who had blood on the left side of her swollen lip. The woman said Dominguez had been drinking and the two began arguing.
The victim said the man threw a duffle bag, striking her and then grabbed her by the throat. She stated that he held her in a choke for approximately 10 seconds. When she stopped struggling he let go, she said. The woman attempted to use a phone to call for help and the man allegedly chased her down the stairs, took the phone and threw it.
He then attempted to choke her a second time, the victim told officers. He then threw her out the front door without a phone, shoes, or keys to her car, the arrest report states. When the victim called 911 she told dispatch the man is in the National Guard, has guns in the residence, was intoxicated and does not like the police, the arrest report states.
The woman had injuries on her neck that were red in color and consistent with being choked, as well as a swollen and bleeding lip. Officers spoke with the suspect who admitted to arguing with the woman but stated nothing physical had happened. When asked if he choked the woman, Dominguez replied: “I should have for her talking to me like that,” according to the arrest report.
He was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation and preventing a victim from reporting a crime, both felonies. He was released after posting bail, according to an officer.
— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 6:55 p.m. in the area of East Long Street and Humboldt on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
According to the arrest report the suspect allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the hair, pushed her down and then pulled her along the ground. The woman had marks on her face where she had been hit and scrapes on her knees and elbows from being pulled on the ground, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,137.
— A 46-year-old man was arrested Saturday, 2:27 a.m. in the 700 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of breaking his conditions of probation when he had been drinking. A conditions for probation was that he was not allowed to drink. He said he had a drink at a restaurant. Bail: $3,000.
— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 8:19 p.m. in the 3200 block of Retail Drive on suspicion of DUI second offense and failure to maintain a lane of traffic. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a fast food restaurant at the corner of College Parkway and Retail for a possible DUI driver. The reporting witness said he followed the Cadillac SUV driving southbound on I-580.
The driver made a wide turn westbound onto College Parkway driving over the eastbound median. The arresting officer made a traffic stop after observing the vehicle merge left instead of merging right when he activated his emergency lights. The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of 3325 Retail Drive.
The officer met with the driver who identified herself and appeared intoxicated. She was asked if she would perform field sobriety tests, in which she was not able to perform as instructed, the arrest report states. She voluntarily gave a preliminary breath test which showed her to be above .08. The officer did a check and learned she was convicted of DUI in 2009. She was taken to jail where she submitted to a blood test. Bail: $2,724.
— A-19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 8:18 a.m. on a criminal contempt warrant charge issued Dec. 17, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
— A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 8:31 a.m. in the 1100 block of Nevada Street on a misdemeanor warrant charge for petit larceny. The warrant was issued Dec. 15, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $250.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
