Snow and ice make for slick road conditions throughout Carson City region
The Nevada Highway Patrol reports slick road conditions on highways throughout western Nevada and Sierra on Wednesday morning. The Nevada Department of Transportation is clearing and sanding roads between Carson Valley, Carson City and Reno as well as along Highway 50.
Plow drivers and sanders with Public Works are working the streets in Carson City this morning, clearing the roads from the combination of snow that fell overnight and any ice underneath. Motorists are advised to drive slow during their morning commutes and allow for enough room between vehicles.
Carson City and valley schools in Douglas County are on a regular schedule without delays. Lyon County schools are on a 2-hour delay. The Western Nevada College campus in Fallon is on a 2-hour delay. Classes will start at 10 a.m. The Carson City WNC campus is on its regular schedule. Classes and campus operations at University of Nevada, Reno will remain as scheduled.
