Carson City deputies arrest gang member for trafficking meth
Carson City Sheriff’s deputies arrested a known gang member Friday afternoon for allegedly trafficking 3.2 ounces of liquid methamphetamine.
According to the arrest report, the Tri-County Gang Unit received information on the whereabouts of Alonzo “Braindead” Rangel-Ahumada, 25, of Carson City, a known member of the Eastwood Tokers gang. The suspect had a felony warrant for failing to comply with the drug court on a previous conviction.
Deputies set up surveillance of a residence in the 400 block of West Winnie Lane. Deputies witnessed an apparent drug deal, when a vehicle pulled up the residence with three males, and one male went inside the residence and returned 15 minutes later. They then observed the subjects in the vehicle smoking drugs. They followed the vehicle out of the area before stopping it. One person in the vehicle told deputies he saw Rangel-Ahumada inside the Winnie Lane residence.
That information was used to get a search warrant for the residence. While obtaining the warrant, deputies received information that the suspect in the vehicle they questioned earlier had called Rangel-Ahumada and warned him that the “cops” were outside.
After receiving the warrant, deputies knocked on the door, then broke it down and deployed a flash-bang device. Rangel-Ahumada and the other occupants were handcuffed and searched.
Two females who were questioned said that Rangel-Ahumada flushed a large amount of meth down the toilet before deputies arrived.
Inside Rangel-Ahumada’s bedroom, deputies found a large bong containing 3.2 ounces of liquid meth, two meth pipes, a digital scale, multiple baggies commonly used for packaging drugs, and a black safe with ammunition. They also found a small baggie containing a 1 gram meth rock behind the toilet. Deputies conducted a test on the toilet that came up positive for liquid meth.
Rangel-Ahumada was arrested for felony trafficking of a controlled substance, felony possession controlled substance with intent of sell, gross misdemeanor destroying evidence, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $200,000.
