Cat stuck on power pole jumps to safety with the help of the Carson City Fire Department
A cat stuck on a power pole brought a lot of attention to a Winnie Street apartment complex Thursday with the Carson City Fire Department showing up to see to it the cat came down safe. Or in this case, it fell into the safe hands of two Carson City firefighters holding a tarp.
The incident happened after 2 p.m. when Carson City Fire Department was called to a West Winnie Street apartment complex regarding a cat up a power line that was drawing a large crowd.
Firefighters arrived and determined they couldn't do much except wait for the cat to climb down and asked dispatch to contact NV Energy to bring in a cherry picker.
When the cat looked like it wanted to come down, Carson City Firefighters Capt. Chris Mason and Jesse Horton saved the day by holding out the tarp. The cat jumped and landed safely in the tarp. The photo was captured by Firefighter Chad Harns.
"This epitomizes what your Carson City Fire Department does. We improvise, we adapt and overcome," said Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon.
