Virginia City honors Veterans with Veterans Cruise today along C Street
Historic Virginia City has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting those who have served our country. A walk down the wooden board sidewalks demonstrates this in the many memorial flags of those who gave their lives in service. Because honoring our veterans is so important, Virginia City will be holding a Veterans Day Cruise today, Wednesday, Nov. 11 beginning at 11 a.m. on C Street.
“We felt it was important to find a way to show veterans that we appreciate them and that we care,” Deny Dotson, Tourism Director for Virginia City Tourism Commission, said. “We wanted to do something in a safe way that adheres to the current guidelines, but demonstrates our appreciation for those who serve our country.”
The Veterans Day Cruise is open to walking groups and vehicles. Walking groups will stage just north of the Fourth Ward School. Participant line up for vehicles starts at the Fourth Ward School, located at the junction of U.S. Routes 342 and 341 at C Street. Visitors are welcome to attend and show their support.
Following current guidelines, parade organizers request that everyone maintains proper physical distance and wears appropriate face coverings, especially in places were physical distancing is more challenging to maintain.
