Nevada Humane Society offers pet adoptions at no cost for veterans on Nov. 11
Nevada Humane Society is proud to honor and thank dedicated service men and women by offering free pet adoptions for members of the military and their immediate families on Veterans Day, this Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018. Pets are available for adoption at either the Carson City shelter, at 549 Airport Road or the Reno shelter, 2825 Longley Lane.
Both shelters are open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Studies reveal troops returning home may have a tough time transitioning back to a civilian lifestyle. At the same time, millions of homeless pets reside in animal shelters across the country, waiting for a family. Pairing pets and vets together provide benefits for everyone — the pet is given a loving home and companion and the veteran receives unconditional love and support, easing stress, depression, anxiety and more.
To adopt a pet for free this Veterans Day, a photo ID and valid military identification is required. Active duty, Reserve, and veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard and/or immediate family members qualify for the free adoption promotion. For questions, contact 775-856-2000 et. 301 or 302.
Nevada Humane Society is open daily, from 11am until 6:30pm except for Saturdays in which it opens an hour earlier at 10am. For adoption in Reno, visit 2825 Longley Lane. For adoptions in Carson City, visit 549 Airport Road. For more information, visit www.nevadahumanesociety.org or call 775-856-2000.
