The Ormsby House is in escrow, plans unknown due to non-disclosure agreement
Carson City’s empty living legend, the Ormsby House, which just celebrated its 20-year anniversary of closure, has apparently found itself a prospective owner. However, the owner in question remains a mystery due to a non-disclosure agreement.
Last year there were discussions in place with a possible developer, Joe D’Angelo, who wished to purchase the Ormsby House and turn it into “Joshua’s House,” a business that would serve as vendor space and long-term medical rentals with one-bedrooms going for $10,000 a month and two-bedrooms renting for $22,000 a month.
D’Angelo disagreed with needing a special use permit from the City and in the end, the sale did not go through. The Ormsby House went back on the market and has remained so until now. Recently it was announced the historic hotel-casino is in escrow, but the owner was not named. However, the prospective owner is reported to have already put a large payment into the escrow account.
Plans for the building are unknown at this point. Carson Now will update with new information on the sale as it becomes available.
