Carson City arrests: Man jailed for possession with intent to sell after 6 grams of meth found
A 45-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Wednesday for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and misdemeanor violation of alternative sentencing conditions, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
James Gary Dempsey was arrested at 2:28 p.m. in the 1400 block of Rand Avenue. According to the arrest report, a deputy was dispatched to assist an alternative sentencing officer who advised he searched Dempsey as part of the man’s probation conditions and found suspected methamphetamine in his back pack inside a small metal container.
Prior to booking the arresting officer weighed the suspected meth at approximately 6 grams. Due to the weight of the drugs, Dempsey was charged with possession with intent to sell and being in violation of probation conditions. Bail: $8,000.
In other arrests:
— A 45-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 1:23 p.m. in the 500 block of East William Street on suspicion of trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a grocery store for a report of an unwanted subject. The officer arrived and met with a store employee who advised the woman had previously been issued a verbal trespass warning on Tuesday to stay off the property.
The woman was located in the front main doors of the store yelling and cursing at store employees. The officer asked the woman to stop yelling and she became verbally aggressive with the officer, the arrest report states.
The officer asked the woman for identification and she shouted obscenities. She attempted to confront a store employee, yelling at them that they called the sheriff’s office. The woman was arrested and taken into custody on a citizen’s arrest complaint. At jail the woman advised she had drug paraphernalia in her bra.A glass pipe with residue was located in the woman’s clothing during the jail intake search. Bail: $1,379.
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 1:04 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Carson Street on misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny and violation of alternative sentencing conditions.
According to the arrest report the man attempted to steal a packaged knife, concealing it and then leaving the store without making any attempt to pay. The man was read his Miranda rights where he told the arresting deputy that he stole the knife to make money.
Dispatch advised he was on alternative sentencing with an “obey all laws” clause. Bail: $1,352.
