Nevada State Prison Preservation Society presents ‘The president and the prisoner’ Saturday
The Nevada State Prison Preservation Society is kicking off a fundraising campaign on Saturday, Oct. 8, with a presentation on a piece of prison history with a political bent.
Glen Whorton, the former director of the Nevada Department of Corrections, will present “The President and the Prisoner” at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 8 in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
The program will review the conviction and incarceration of the only person from the state of Nevada who has been nominated to run for president of the United States.
This presentation is open to the public and the Society is asking for a donation of $10 per person for their attendance. The donations will go towards the costs associated with a code analysis, change of use permit, and improving ADA accessibility for prison tours.
The Society is also working on various grant opportunities, large block donations and developing future fund-raising events. Information on this event and donations may be found at the Society’s website — NSPPS.org.
