SET deputies arrest three Carson City men for drug sales, gun crimes
Carson City Special Enforcement Team (SET) deputies arrested three Carson City men Thursday night for possession of controlled substances with intent to sell, gun crimes and more.
According to the arrest report, Curtis Andrew Helton (54), Jon Michael Garggett (60), and Matthew Ryan Patellos (29) were arrested in the 1000 block of S. Carson Street after SET deputies and Gang Unit Deputies were granted a search warrant of the residence.
Deputies arrived at the scene in unmarked vehicles and activated emergency lights and yelled, “Sheriff’s Office!” as they exited their vehicles, according to the report. There were four males standing in front of the residence.
Three of the males complied with instructions and were detained by being placed into handcuffs. The fourth male ran inside of the room and hid.
Deputies instructed the man to exit the room, and he then complied. He was put in handcuffs and detained.
Deputies entered the residence and determined there was no one else inside.
According to the report, the main suspect in the search warrant listed was Curtis Helton, who is the registered tenant of the residence. Garggett and Patellos were identified by their drivers licenses and the fourth male was released without charges.
During a search of Garggett’s clothing, deputies located a small plastic baggie in his pocket which contained methamphetamine.
Deputies located a backpack in the room belonging to Garggett which contained a glass pipe presumed to be used for methamphetamine.
Deputies reviewed Helton’s cell phone and determined there were numerous messages between Helton and Patellos regarding drug sales.
Patellos admitted to purchasing methamphetamine and methamphetamine pipes from Helton, and was taken into custody.
On Helton’s person, deputies located $785 in one pocket and $445 in the other, mostly made of small denominations ($20, $10 and $5 bills), which is consistent with drug sales according to the report.
Helton told deputies he is unemployed.
Inside the residence deputies located:
- 34 grams of methamphetamine
- 545 grams of marijuana
- $2,848 dollars
- 7 methamphetamine pipes
- multiple small plastic baggies with residue
- clear plastic baggies used for packaging of drugs
- a spoon with methamphetamine residue
- a digital scale with methamphetamine residue
- a Winchester shotgun with a shaved serial number
Helton was booked on conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sale, sales of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, altering a serial number, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bail: $93,637
Gargett was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bail: $3,637
Patellos was arrested for conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act.
Bail: $20,000
