NHP identifies Fallon man in fatal vehicle accident on Highway 50 in Churchill County
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 79-year-old Fallon man who died Saturday, Aug. 25 in a single vehicle crash on US Highway 50 in Churchill County, 60 miles east of Fallon near Cold Springs Station.
William Dennis Klaus died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
At approximately 8:15 a.m. NHP troopers responded to the crash. The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2004 Toyota Tundra pickup was traveling eastbound on US-50 towards Austin.
The driver, Klaus, allowed the pickup to drift out of the travel lane and drove off the highway onto the eastbound shoulder. The driver then steered to the left causing the pickup to travel across both the eastbound and westbound lanes and onto the westbound shoulder, according to NHP.
The Tundra overturned and the Klaus was ejected due to not wearing a seat belt. There were no other occupants inside the Toyota pickup. No travel lanes were blocked as a result of the crash, according to NHP.
