Carson City planning, cultural commission seats open, city taking applications
The Carson City Planning Commission and the Carson City Cultural Commission have recently announced they are looking for community members to fill vacating seats.
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Planning Commission.
This Commission oversees all matters pertaining to Carson City’s planning and zoning, land use and growth management.
Meetings are the last Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. at the Community Center, Sierra Room. Applicants must be willing to serve approximately 12 to 16 hours a month.
There is one (1) open position, for a partial term that will expire January 2021.
The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint the qualified person to the Commission.
Applicants must be a Carson City registered voter to qualify.

Applications will be accepted until August 24, 2018. Interviews for both volunteer positions are tentatively planned to be held at the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, September 6, 2018.
TThe Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from individuals who may be interested in serving on the Carson City Cultural Commission.
The purpose of the Carson City Cultural Commission is to serve as the official advisor to the Carson City Board of Supervisors on matters related to the cultural life of the community.
There are two (2) open positions, each to fill a term that ends January 2021.
• Citizen-at-Large: The requirements are:
(1) Be residents of Carson City;
(2) Have a broad and informed perspective of the arts along with a demonstrated knowledge and responsiveness to the existing arts community and community at large;
(3) Represent a cross section of the city's age, multi-cultural, socio- economic, professional, artistic and volunteer diversity; and
(4) Have an appreciation for Carson City's rich cultural tradition.
Youth Representatives (18-25 years old; College students; or, Young Arts Advocates/Ambassadors), Arts Professionals (Employment in a Commercial or Non-profit arts Organization), and Business Professionals (Non-arts Business Owner or Staff) are encouraged to apply.
The Commission meetings are held at least quarterly, lasting approximately 2-3 hours. Additional time may be spent on special projects and sub-committee work. Applicants should be prepared for a minimum commitment of up to ten hours a month.
