Carson City driver gives passenger's name instead of her own to avoid warrant arrest
A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of providing false information to avoid prosecution, a felony, and a misdemeanor bench warrant.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop on vehicle northbound on I-580, traveling 71 mph in a 65 mph zone.
The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, who stated she didn't have her license on her. She was asked for her name and she provided a name and date of birth. A female passenger in the vehicle was then asked her name, in which she gave the same name as the driver gave, which prompted the deputy to ask them both whether they had the same name.
The driver, Annmarie Southern, then stated her real name and said she was scared because she thought she had a warrant.
The deputy ran both subjects through Carson City Dispatch for a wants and warrants check. Southern had a warrant for her arrest with a $5,000 cash only bail amount, issued Jan. 6, 2020. She was taken into custody. $15,000.
