Night in the Country, Lyon County address flooding issues, festival traffic
Night in the Country officials announced Tuesday they will be changing the camper ingress and egress due to flood damage on Miller Lane in Yerington, Nev. West Goldfield Avenue will now be the main access to the campground entrances. The venue was not damaged during the flooding.
“We want to thank everyone who has been working diligently to find the best solution that least affects congestion in town and ask for our community’s understanding and support,” said Festival Director Justin Aguilar.
Festival organizers have been working with public officials to create multiple contingency plans dependent on the extent of the road damage and have decided to move forward with a plan to bring campers traveling on Highway 95 through West Goldfield Avenue to the Lyon Country Fairgrounds and Pete Hendrichs Road campground entrances. Campers and festivalgoers are encouraged to allot a little extra time for travel to this year’s festival.
Night in the Country, a fundraiser that benefits non-profit organizations in Mason Valley and beyond, has grown in its 16-year history to include popular headliners like this year’s Thomas Rhett and Justin Moore. Last year, through the Give and Get volunteer program, Night in the Country donated more than $71,000 to 41 non-profits.
Night in the Country will return to the Lyon County Fairgrounds July 27-29. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit NightintheCountry.org.
