Carson City arrests: Man jailed for alleged threats with machete and knife
A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of two felony counts assault with a deadly weapon and two misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
William Thomas Liggett also faces two counts misdemeanor violation of pre-trial conditions. According to the arrest report, deputies were called at 8:37 a.m. for a report of a man in the parking lot of a motel armed with a machete.
Deputies responded and gathered information about the suspect, who had fled the scene after the victim call 911. It was learned the suspect allegedly produced both a knife and a machete during an argument, swinging the machete once and threatening the victim, the arrest report states.
A description of the suspect and vehicle was given. A deputy located the suspect in an apartment complex at 20 College Parkway. The suspect had a spring-loaded knife attached to his belt. He was read his Miranda warning and told officers his name and alias name. He told officers he got into an argument with the victim and that he armed himself with the machete to defend himself.
The suspect gave the deputy permission to remove the machete from the vehicle and he was arrested. Total bail amount listed: $46,000.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man, Nicholas Ryan Norris, was arrested Tuesday for two priority 5 warrants out of the Department of Parole and Probation and a felony warrant out of the Department of Public Safety.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a location where the man was at, and positioned themselves near the residence and used a loud speaker to notify the man of the officers presence and requested he surrender. The man surrendered peacefully after a subsequent phone call from a deputy. He's being held without bail in lieu of hearings on the warrant charges.
— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 6:35 p.m. in the 300 block of Gardengate for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and reckless driving.
According to the arrest report, deputies observed a vehicle northbound on Carson Street traveling at a high rate of speed. A deputy was able to follow the vehicle, where the driver then accelerated to a speed of 90 mph. The officer activated his flashing light and attempted to make a stop, however the vehicle kept going, according to the report. The driver then turned into a driveway in the 300 block of Gardengate, exited the vehicle and put his hands in the air. The suspect said he was drunk and asked to be arrested, according to the booking report.
He told deputies he had at least 4 beers prior to driving. He attempted to do standardized field sobriety tests but could not do them as demonstrated and attempted to do a preliminary breath test but was unable to provide a sufficient sample. The man then became uncooperative. When an officer attempted to read the man a voluntary consent for a breath or blood test, the man began using obscenities. A search warrant was applied for and granted for a blood draw. Bail: $1,774.
