Carson City woman accused of stealing from mother to pay off drug dealer
A 23-year-old unemployed Carson City woman faces multiple felony charges in connection with a series of thefts associated with paying off a drug dealer.
Bailey Michelle Wilson was arrested on Tuesday at the 3700 block of Hobart Road following an investigation in which the suspect's mother found the stolen items, including jewelry, inside a pawn shop.
Wilson faces felony charges of grand larceny, burglary, obtaining money under false pretenses and possession of stolen property. Bail has been set at $25,000.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, a deputy met with the victim at the Super Pawn store, where multiple items that were stolen from her home between March 28 and April 1 were found. The victim suspected her daughter, Bailey Wilson, stole the items from her home to get enough money to pay off a drug dealer, according to the arrest report.
Super Pawn records verified that between March 29 and March 31, Wilson entered the pawn shop with the stolen items, represented the items to the store assistant manager as being her personal property and then accepted $1,365 in return, using the stolen items as collateral for a loan, according to the arrest report.
Wilson never made any payments on the account nor does Super Pawn have any records documenting that Wilson ever contacted them regarding the debt she owned, according to the arrest report.
Wilson also took 21 DVD movies to Best Pawn where she sold them to the store for $21 on Feb. 6. Wilson's sister was out of town and did not realize her DVD's had been stolen until after her mother reported the theft in March, according to the arrest report. The majority of DVDs recovered from Best Pawn had the victim's initials written on them.
On June 1, Carson City Sheriff's Office detectives made contact with Wilson and she was arrested.
While en route to jail, Wilson repeatedly told officers that she and her mother had an agreement in which her mother would drop all theft charges if she went to drug rehabilitation. Wilson also told the deputy that she took the items from her mother's home because she thought the items belonged "to the entire family," according to the arrest report.
The majority of the jewelry stolen belonged to the victim and was given to her by her mother and father, according to the arrest report.
