Carson City Parks and Recreation announces tentative reopening plans of Pool, MAC, and more under Phase 2
The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department announced it is planning on reopening certain recreational facilities under Phase 2, with tentative dates announced for the beginning of June. These dates are all tentative, and may change as additional information becomes available.
Carson City MAC will be opening on Friday, June 5th. Reservations for basketball and pickleball will be required.
Reservations will be available at https://www.carson.org/ccpr or by calling or visiting the MAC. The reservation system will become operational sometime next week.
There will be restrictions in place regarding number of people on a court or on the walking track at any given time. Proper social distancing will be required at all times.
Carson Aquatic Facility will open Monday, June 8th. Hours of operation will be reduced. Tot pool and Outdoor pool will remain closed for now. Only lap swimming will be permitted in the 50 meter pool with only one person per lane.
The Therapy Pool will be restricted to 6 people at any given time with individual spaces marked out on the pool deck. Per the state regulations, reservations will be required for lanes or therapy pool space. Reservations will be able to be made online at https://www.carson.org/ccpr , or by calling or visiting the Aquatic Facility.
The reservation system will become operational sometime next week. Locker rooms will provide access to restrooms and showers but lockers and seating areas will remain unavailable.
The Splash Pad at McFadden Plaza will also open Monday, June 8th with social distancing measures in place.
The Carson City Community Center will open on Monday, June 8th. Limited recreation classes may begin following Monday when instructors are ready and have measures in place to follow state and local guidelines.
Skateparks and outdoor sport courts will all be open if they were not already. Social distancing at all park facilities is encouraged and expected.
Playgrounds will remain closed until a later phase.
We express our gratitude to the community for their patience as we work to open our facilities. We want to make sure we’re following all guidelines and have the necessary measures in place before we open our doors to the public.
Additionally, we have not been able to conduct interviews or staff trainings during closure, so staff resources are very limited. This may cause continued closure of some facilities or amenities until we can properly staff those areas.
