The Carson City Aquatic Facility has been closed to the public for about six weeks while updates and renovations took place. The pool was re-opened without much fanfare Tuesday with a grand reopening and free community swim set for Saturday to celebrate the completion, including a dive in family-friendly movie.

New Salon, Spa and Wellness Center to open in Carson City

Hair Studio and Spear Me expanding and moving into new building

Local business owners Perry and Starr Nixdorf announce that they bought the building at 3430 Executive Pointe Way. The previously bank-owned building is being remodeled to become the largest salon, spa and wellness center in Carson City.

Hair services performed at Hair Studio and body piercing services by Spear Me will be moved to the new location, to be called Paradise Salon-Spa-Wellness. It will be the only salon/spa in the area to provide private and semi-private salon suites.

Carson City pool to reopen for Sunday family swim

The Carson City outdoor pool will be open for families to cool off on Sunday afternoons through summer. The pool had been closed Sundays for several seasons because of budget cuts.

Sunday's will have special rates and special themes to attract the entire family. With the many young families in Carson City, parks and recreation has decided to reopen the pool. Hours will be from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Swim program for autistic children and adults developed at Carson City Aquatic Facility

The Carson City Recreation Department, through the generous support of Let Them Be Kids, is proud to announce the Joe Lopez Adult/Child Swim Hour for Children with Autism and ASD.

This program is a first of its kind in the Carson Valley and is designed specifically to expose children and adults with autism or ASD to the water. The swim hour is free of charge to anyone affected by Autism and is the precursor to the Joe Lopez Adaptive Swim program which will teach water safety and swim lessons to those on the spectrum and is set to begin in the first quarter of 2013.
