Las Vegas man held in 2013 murder of South Lake Tahoe gas station clerk
A Las Vegas man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the 2013 murder of a South Lake Tahoe gas station clerk, law enforcement officials said.
Sean Donohoe, 34, of Las Vegas, who was living in South Lake Tahoe at the time of the August 6, 2013 killing, was taken into custody and charged with the murder of Manpreet Singh after a collaborative investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies and the FBI.
According to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, a witness came forward after authorities released a 2017 video in hopes of getting new leads in what had turned into a cold case. The video can be seen on the El Dorado District Attorney Office Cold Case website here: www.eldoradocoldcase.com
The witness saw the video and contacted investigators in the summer of 2019, telling them Donohoe was responsible for the killing, South Lake Tahoe police said in a news release.
Investigators followed the new information and worked on the case extensively since receiving the lead, comparing DNA evidence collected from the investigation and the DNA of Sean Donohoe, which matched, according to the news release.
The El Dorado County Cold Case Task Force traveled extensively to interview the involved parties. On Tuesday, with the help of the FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Donohoe was arrested for the murder of Manpreet Singh.
South Lake Tahoe Police Department is still compiling information regarding the murder and is asking the public to come forward if they have information. Contact SLPD Det. Herminghaus, at Jherminghaus@cityofslt.us 530-542-6133 or the Cold Case Task force at Coldcasetaskforce@edcgov.us 530-621-4590.
