Second vehicle pursuit in two days ends Saturday in Gardnerville with 2 arrests
A vehicle pursuit with law enforcement, the second in two days, ended Saturday with arrests in the Gardnerville area, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
No law enforcement officers were harmed in the incident, which ended after the suspect vehicle traveling on blown tires had spun out, said DCSO Undersheriff Ron Elges.
The two suspects are Clayton Enox, who had outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Carson City. A female suspect, Jasmine Simental, was arrested for narcotics related charges. DCSO is investigating whether the suspect vehicle was stolen out of Fallon. It was not registered to either subject.
At around 3:10 Saturday afternoon, the DCSO patrol division attempted to stop the 1999 gold Oldsmobile sedan with fictitious license plates in the area of Waterloo Lane and Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.
When the DCSO patrol deputy turned on his emergency lights, the suspect vehicle drove away, accelerating to more than 65 mph. The gold sedan immediately lost its front tire and continued to drive on the rim, nearly striking oncoming vehicles due to the driver's inability to control the car without a tire, said Elges.
DCSO continued to follow the suspect vehicle turning onto Highway 395 south bound. The sedan lost a second tire and continued on two rims south on Highway 395.
Deputies were able to box in the suspect vehicle because it was unable to maintain its high speed. A DCSO unit used a motor vehicle intervention technique causing the sedan to spin out and stop in the ditch on Jake’s Hill south of Rockbottom Road in Gardnerville, said Elges.
Enox and Simental were cleared of any medical concerns and booked into the Douglas County Jail.
It is the second pursuit in Douglas County in two days. On Friday Fabian Campos was taken into custody following a pursuit that began in Carson City and ended near Johnson Lane and Highway 395. Campos w booked on multiple charges.
