Carson City deputies arrest woman wanted in Texas with $500,000 bail warrant
A 50-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested in Carson City Saturday on a felony fugitive justice warrant out of Texas. Loures Ruano was being held on $500,337 and is awaiting extradition.
According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to Raley's in the 3700 block of South Carson Street on a call about a larceny in which two people were detained for shoplifting.
Loss prevention reported that two women entered the store and took out a large purse and selected 7 cans of baby formula valued at $129.43 and placed them in the purse. Both women exited the store and were detained.
Ruano had $300 cash on her at the time of the arrest. Store security signed a citizen arrest form and completed a statement. Deputies on scene decided to make arrests because both women did not have valid, verifiable identification and it appeared they were involved in organized retail theft based on the items and methods which they stole the items, the arrest report states.
Upon arrival at jail a wants and warrants check was done on the woman where it was discovered she had the confirmed felony warrant with $500,000 bond from Dallas County, Texas. She and the other woman, 26, from San Jose, each face local charges of misdemeanor larceny.
