Carson City meth sales operation shut down in Thursday bust, nine arrested
Around 300 grams of methamphetamine was seized and nine people were arrested Thursday in a three-month investigation into methamphetamine distribution, according to the Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force.
The investigation culminated Thursday morning with the service of search and arrest warrants throughout the east side neighborhood with the assistance of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, its SWAT Team, Special Enforcement teams from Carson City and Douglas County, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Tri-County Gang Unit, Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division Major Crimes Unit, and the Nevada Office of the Military Counter Drug Unit.
A search warrant was served at 3587 Desatoya Drive which resulted in the seizure of approximately 112 grams of methamphetamine, three handguns and a stolen motorcycle.
Elvin Lee Fred, 32, was arrested on a warrant charging him on suspicion of multiple methamphetamine trafficking charges in addition to new charges resulting from the search of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and level 3 methamphetamine trafficking charges. Fred’s bail has been set at $250,000.
Fred’s girlfriend Tawnee Johnson28, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, and Level 3 methamphetamine trafficking, bail $250,000.
Seven additional drug-related arrest warrants were served on the following individuals: Christopher Shane Landry, 43, bail $25,000; James Tito, 41, bail $100,000; Michelle Rendleman, 34, bail $20,000; Aaron Jalbert, 25, bail $100,000, Lee Huttman, 53, bail $25,000;, Patricia Skenandore-Bigpond, 33, bail $100,000 and Jason Huddleston, 38, bail $25,000.
The individuals were charged with various felonies including sales of a controlled substance, drug trafficking, conspiracy to violate the uniformed Controlled substance Act, conspiracy, and having a child present during a controlled substance violation.
As a result of the investigation a total of approximately 300 grams of Methamphetamine was seized with a street value of $30,000.
This joint effort will impact the Methamphetamine distribution in that neighborhood by eliminating one of the neighborhood supply points and several subjects involved in the distribution of that suppliers product.
The operation began before sunrise Thursday morning and culminated with the final arrest around 2 p.m. with all individuals in custody.
As a result of the service of the search warrant schools located near Desatoya Drive elected to hold recess inside until the operation was completed as a precaution however there was no immediate threat to any of the schools.
The effort is an example of joint law enforcement investigation and enforcement activity which is necessary to effectively combat the Methamphetamine distribution in Carson City and surrounding areas.
The Tri-NET Task Force is supervised by the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division and comprised of investigators from DPS-ID, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nevada Office of the Military Counter Drug Unit.
