Carson City weather: Snow showers Thursday may cause morning, evening commute headaches
Another storm system is expected to bring widespread light to moderate snow throughout the Carson City, valley and Sierra regions Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Winter Weather Advisory.
Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible with localized amounts up to 6 inches in the area foothills, Douglas County and between the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center and Fernley, according to the weather service.
The advisory is from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday. The biggest impact will be the timing of the first band during the Thursday morning commute through the I-80 corridor. Motorists should plan for slick roadways and potentially long delays for Thursday morning and potentially evening commutes.
High temperatures Thursday and Friday will be around 35 with nighttime lows in the mid teens.
Winter weather will continue to impact the region with a series of cold winter storms possible next week, according to the weather service.
Most areas will see a break in snowfall through this weekend, with sunny skies and daytime highs in the low 40s. Another winter storm is possible Monday and Tuesday next week.
