Heavy rain expected in Carson City, western Nevada prompts flood watch
A series of winter storms working their way through the region will bring heavy rain to the valley areas of western Nevada and Carson City region through Sunday prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch.
Snow levels are currently near 7,000 feet and are expected to rise to 8,000 to 8,500 feet by Saturday afternoon. Snow levels will remain there into Sunday morning before slowly dropping, according to the weather service. Heavy rain will continue during this time with total amounts of 2 to 4 inches expected in some areas.
The heavy rain could cause rises in small streams with minor flooding possible tonight and Sunday. The Flood Watch is in effect for the areas of Carson City, Reno, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe Basin including South Lake Tahoe and Incline Village, Truckee, Lassen and Eastern Plumas counties.
