Carson City deputies make arrest in Douglas County home burglary
A burglary in Douglas County Wednesday resulted in a traffic stop by Carson City sheriff's deputies in Washoe Valley that led to subsequent arrests.
Kenneth Lamontagne, 25, of Reno faces felony charges of burglary, grand larceny of a firearm and possession of stolen firearms. The suspect's wife, Robin Lamontagne, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Washoe County.
The burglary was reported at a Johnson Lane home. The reporting party said his brother-in-law, Kenneth Lamontagne, had broken into his home, stole firearms — a Mossberg shotgun and a Smith and Wesson .38 Special model 10-6 revolver — and was seen driving in a Jeep Liberty that belonged to his sister, Robin Lamontagne.
Among the items missing in the home were the weapons and five to six PlayStation video games, according to the arrest report.
As Douglas County deputies were processing the burglary scene, dispatch put an "attempt to locate" bulletin for neighboring law agencies. Carson City Sheriff's Office Bob Guimont spotted the Jeep on Highway 395 heading north into Washoe Valley and conducted a felony traffic stop at around 5:30 p.m.
Carson City deputies approached the vehicle, occupied by the Lamontagnes and another man, at gunpoint. Carson City deputies advised they could plainly see a shotgun with a black stock sitting in the passenger foot well, the arrest report states.
Because the reporting party said he only saw Kenneth Lamontagne driving, he was arrested for probable cause by Carson City deputies. The Jeep was sealed by Carson City Detective Gomez and towed back to Douglas County as evidence, the arrest report states.
Kenneth Lamontagne was transported to the Douglas County line by Carson City deputies and placed into Douglas County custody. Robin Lamontagne was booked on an outstanding warrant out of Washoe County, the arrest report states.
Guimont arrived at the Douglas County Jail along with the towed vehicle where he gave authorities two Winchester .38 unfired pistol rounds that were found in Kenneth Lamontagne's pocket, the arrest report states.
