WNC Baseball 2013 Season Schedule Preview; Carson Now to be a Host of Live Broadcasts

Carson Now is proud to begin its third year of being a host to Western Nevada College Baseball broadcasts. Western Nevada Baseball is now widely known as a national power across the USA. In 2012, Carson Now brought you the exciting season that saw the Wildcats baseball program make it to their third JUCO World Series appearance. This year, the Wildcats will have a strong team that is anxious at retaking that trip to Grand Junction, Colorado.

The first broadcast for the WNC Baseball program on Carson Now will be the 25th live from Las Vegas as they take on South Mountain Community College. Head Coach DJ Whittemore has compiled a record of 300-124-2 in just seven seasons. The Wildcats in 2013 will be looking for their 4th Scenic West Athletic Conference Championship, 3rd Region 18 Championship, 4th Western Regional Championship, and their 4th JUCO World Series appearance. Carson Now will bring you as much action as possible.

Western Nevada will start off the season in Las Vegas playing South Mountain and Pima Colleges, followed by trips to Mesa, AZ and Riverside, CA. The trip to Mesa will see two of the top teams in the nation from last year face off as the Wildcats take on the Vaqueros from Central Arizona. After the Mesa visit, WNC makes their way to Riverside where they will take on the Tigers. The Tigers are always among the best teams in California.

After those trips are finished, the schedule takes a slight twist from the past few years since College of Eastern Utah dropped out of the SWAC and down into Division II. The Wildcats take another trip to Vegas where the other four teams in the SWAC (Colorado Northwestern, College of Southern Nevada, Salt Lake Community College, and Southern Idaho) meet up and play against each other in one game that will count in the conference standings.

The road marathon continues as conference play will heat up as the Salt Lake Bruins will welcome their newly found rivals in the Wildcats for four games beginning March 1st. WNC eliminated the Bruins last year in the Western District Tournament to punch their ticket to the World Series. The road trips finally end for the Wildcats for a few weeks as they open up at home against the Spartans of Colorado Northwestern followed by Mount Hood College the next weekend, and finishes off the home stand with the in-state rivals; College of Southern Nevada.

WNC will hit the road again on March 29th and head to Twin Falls, Idaho to take on the Golden Eagles from the College of Southern Idaho. The next weekend it’s back home to host the Salt Lake Bruins. The Wildcats will head off to Rangley, Colorado to play the Spartans. When they return from Rangely, the schedule takes another unusual twist as WNC will get a week off in the middle of conference play.

The season will get back underway on April 26th when the Wildcats will take yet another trip to Las Vegas for round two of battling the Coyotes for Nevada supremacy. Western Nevada will finish the regular season at home hosting the College of Southern Idaho.

After the regular season ends the postseason begins. The champion of the SWAC in the regular season will host the Region 18 Tournament. The champion of the tournament will move on to the Western District Tournament. The lucky team to come out winners of that tournament will move onto the big show in Grand Junction, Colorado to the JUCO World Series.

Western Nevada has always competed to be a top team in the nation, and will continue the tradition in 2013. Tune-in to Carson Now and Ustream as the broadcasts will be streamed live. The schedule for the broadcasts at this point is up in the air due to schedule conflicts. Chris Graham will be behind the mic for the Wildcats in his 6th season and 9th year overall for broadcasting.
