NV Energy reports nearly 300 Carson City customers without power

NV Energy reports power outages late Tuesday morning affecting nearly 300 customers around Carson City. An outage was reported in the West Winnie Lane area around at around 10:35 p.m. affecting 271 customers. At around the time of the outage Carson City dispatch reported that a tree limb was down in the area.

Two Carson City school teachers earn national board certification, one renews

The Carson City School District is celebrating two new National Board Certified Teachers from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Recognition will come at Tuesday’s school board meeting. NBCT is widely considered to be the highest professional recognition for educators and includes a five percent pay increase in acknowledgement of accomplished teaching.

Carson City deputies make multiple felony, misdemeanor warrant arrests

A 36-year-old Reno man was booked into Carson City Jail for two felony warrants alleging grand larceny of a motor vehicle out of Carson City and being a fugitive from justice, issued out of Placer County, Calif.

UPDATE 12:30PM: According to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief, three people were transported to the hospital. One person was flown by Care Flight and two others were taken by ground ambulance to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. The eastbound lane of Highway 50 was reopened at 12:30 p.m. The westbound lane remains closed. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

NDOT: Brief lane closures in downtown Gardnerville ahead of repaving work

Beginning Monday, Jan. 27 through early February, drivers will see brief overnight lane closures on U.S. 395 through downtown Gardnerville as the Nevada Department of Transportation begins preliminary utility surveying in advance of a future project to repave the highway.

A man is being held on a charge of open murder after a woman died from injuries sustained in an attack that happened Sunday at a Virginia City Highland's home, according to the Storey County Sheriff's Office.

NHP: One dead in Dayton crash involving pedestrian who had been on an ATV

UPDATE: This matter is under investigation. According to NHP a man was on an ATV and for an unknown reason he was dismounted from the ATV and struck by two vehicles. The drivers of the two vehicles pulled over. NHP is investigating that the ATV driver was initially hit earlier by a vehicle, that fled the scene and that the victim was hit again by the two other vehicles (which then stopped.) We will update as more information becomes available.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a pedestrian fatality that happened Sunday night in the area of Highway 50 and Mark Twain Avenue in Dayton.

An NHP spokeswoman said the rider of an ATV had dismounted from the vehicle and was in a travel lane when he was struck by two vehicles.

Carson City Sheriff: 4 juveniles in custody as Saturday's shooting investigation continues

UPDATE: At approximately 4:30 p.m., State Division of Investigations officers took a fourth juvenile into custody related to the Saturday, Jan. 25 shooting. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has determined that no other suspects are being sought at this time. The fourth juvenile will be returned to Carson City, where he will be charged similarly to those already in custody.

UPDATE: Four juveniles are in custody in connection to a shooting that happened Saturday night in Carson City in which two adult males suffered gunshot wounds. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said Sunday afternoon in a news releases that four juveniles have been taken into custody in relation to a shooting. Of the juveniles, ages 13-16 years, two were from Carson City and one from Douglas County. Go here for the latest update regarding the arrests.

Elks Lodge celebrates Carson City Search and Rescue with $2,500 grant

On Friday night, the local Elks Lodge chapter hosted a sold-out dinner and fundraiser event in support of the Carson City Search and Rescue volunteers.

The program included a a live auction, raffle drawing, and presentation of the Elks National Foundation grant of $2,500. These Gratitude Grants are used to support local, charitable activities such as hosting a community clean-up day, purchasing supplies for a homeless shelter, or organizing a school literacy fair.

The Elks Lodge is celebrating 150 years of service.

Carson City man arrested for battery, obstruction following living room brawl

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3400 block of Harvard Way Friday evening for battery and obstructing after he allegedly fought with his wife's coworker in their living room.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the residence in report of a fight in progress. The reporting party was the man's wife and the other person in the fight was her co-worker, according to the report, and both were "highly intoxicated."

The Parks Foundation is saddened to learn of the passing earlier this week of Sandy Osheroff, the Foundation’s longtime Treasurer.

Parks Foundation president, David Johnson, announced on Friday that the Foundation’s Board of Directors, continuing the Foundation’s practice of recognizing outstanding contributions in furtherance of Carson City’s parks, recreational facilities and open space, designated Sandy Osheroff as the “2020 Volunteer of the Years” at their December meeting.

Washoe County Sheriff's Office issues warrant for Carson City man for failure to appear on domestic assault

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant for 32-year-old Carson City man Jason Michael Fisher. The warrant is for failure to appear on a charge of domestic battery first, and failure to appear on a charge of domestic battery second.

Fisher is 32, 5’10” tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds, according to the warrant. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Non-injury accident reported at Long and Roop Streets Friday afternoon

Just after 2:30 p.m. on Friday, a non-injury accident involving two vehicles was reported at Long and Roop Streets after one vehicle was reported to have run a red light and struck another vehicle.

Motorists should seek alternative routes for the time being.

Nevada Rural Housing Authority announces Weatherization Scam in Lyon County has been resolved

On January 23, 2020, the Nevada Rural Housing Authority reported a complaint about an identity theft attempt in Lyon County in relation to the NRHA Weatherization Program.

Lyon County announced on Friday that the issue has been resolved.
