Carson City emergency crews called to multi-vehicle crash on Highway 50 East

UPDATE 12:30PM: According to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief, three people were transported to the hospital. One person was flown by Care Flight and two others were taken by ground ambulance to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. The eastbound lane of Highway 50 was reopened at 12:30 p.m. The westbound lane remains closed. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called late Monday morning to a crash involving multiple vehicles in the 5000 block of Highway 50 East.
The crash was reported at around 11:45 a.m. and involves at least three vehicles. The cross streets are Centennial Park and Detroit Road. Specifically around 50 yards east of an auto dealership at Detroit Road and Highway 50 A Care Flight air ambulance has been ordered and will land at the scene. A ground ambulance was also called for a patient injury.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes have been shut down near the crash scene. Motorists are advised to stay clear of the area. Traffic is being re-directed to Arrowhead. We will update as more information becomes available.
