Carson City’s Michael’s Cycles has recently sold to a Georgia-based company, and has rebranded as “Ridezilla.”

The powersports store, selling everything from dirt bikes to ATVs, snowmobiles and everything in between, has operated in Carson City since the 80s.

November gaming revenue down 9.4 percent in Carson City area, 7.6 percent statewide

Gaming revenue at Carson City area casinos was down 9.42 percent in November, according to figures released Thursday from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Statewide, gaming revenue was down 7.62 percent compared to November 2021.

New Lucky Strike casino at site of former Grandma Hattie’s in Carson City now open

The new south Carson City Lucky Strike is now open for business.

The casino’s construction began in late 2021 by Shaheen Beauchamp Builders, and according to Pat Beauchamp, the casino held a soft opening in November.

Carson City's The Tap Shack finds new owners, old name

Fans of the former Carson City hockey bar the Tap Shack, located at 112 Rice Street, will be happy to find the name returned to the business, along with its new owners.

Owners Sandra and Walter Owens purchased the bar in November from the newest owners, who turned the bar into Tap @ Rice Street in March of 2021.

Sandra grew up in the restaurant business, as her grandparents owned the famous Christmas Tree Restaurant on Mt. Rose Highway.

"My first job was as a dish washer in their restaurant," Sandra said. "I've been in the industry ever since."

Haley Albarran has always had a passion for preschoolers. While some might blanche at the idea of spending their days providing artistic messes for young makers, Albarran has made it a career.
