The contest is open to all students attending Carson City schools in grades 6-12. This year's theme is "Black Resistance: Creating Communities of Care and Collaboration."

Adam Whitt Foundation accepting applications for youth sports participants

Funds are available to qualifying families with youth ages 10-18 for organized sports. Funds can be utilized for registration fees, travel expenses, new/used equipment, and other associated athletic expenses.

Having served as the district's chief financial officer for eight years, he was able to hit the ground running when promoted to the top job in July. His presentation will provide insights into how successful Carson City's schools have been at implementing the district's "learner-centered" model, which focuses instruction on what the individual student needs to know and be able to do.

Laura hand crafts her exquisite creations in the rectory kitchen behind the Brewery Arts Center performance hall. They are on display and sold on the BAC's ground floor. A portion of all proceeds go to support the BAC's many community programs.

Lyon County unveils Ken Harvey Canal plaque in Silver Springs

The event was held at 2565 Fort Churchill Road in Silver Springs where a monument and plaque was unveiled overlooking the canal.
