American Rescue Plan Act Carson City
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 09/26/2022 - 1:47pmn August 18, 2022, the Carson City Board of Supervisors (“Board”) approved the recommendation from the Board of Health to recognize that both unsheltered individuals and emergency housing, are critical issues in Carson City and that approximately $1.1 million from the City’s American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”) funding be awarded to programs or projects that support the Carson City Housing Plan.
U.S. Navy Surgeon General Rear Admiral among guest speakers at Carson City Rotary meeting

Three Navy representatives will join the Rotarians at their weekly lunch meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 27. The meeting takes place at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.
Supervisor Giomi to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon

Giomi serves as the Board of Supervisor's representative on the Carson City Cultural and Tourism Authority, the Carson Water Sub-Conservancy District, and the Western Nevada Legislative Coalition. He is also Carson City’s representative to the Nevada Association of Counties.

Night time 'Ghost Walks' offered at historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City

National Public Lands Day cleanup at the Historic Fernley Swales
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 09/11/2022 - 2:45pmThe 22nd annual volunteer cleanup at the Fernley Swales (segments of the California National Historic Emigrant Trail and the original transcontinental railroad) will be on National Public Lands Day, Saturday Sept. 24, from 9 am to 1 pm, just north of the truck stop at I-80 exit 48.
Volunteers will receive T-shirts and a free one-day entrance pass to National Parks and recreation areas. Partners for the cleanup include the Bureau of Land Management, the Oregon-California Trails Association, the Fernley Rotary, the Desert Pigs and Olcese Waste Services.

Our group meets four times in a school year to foster good fellowship among retired employees and assist young people to enter the field of education by providing scholarships.
